What do you mean by the color does not come off? I have done hundreds of gel coat boats and motohomes and everyone will remove colored gel when buffing. Perhaps you misunderstood what I was saying and thought I meant color was flaking off boat. If colored gel was the first thing sprayed into mold then the color will come off when using any abrasives.

I am pretty certain my Elimintor is the real thing (many clues) and its Hull Number is ELI
Per Rock:
"Once I bought my first Hydrostream boating changed forever for me."
Per my hero Instigator:
"I try not to let common sense interfere w/my boat buying decisions."

I didnt mean why would they put it on fade. I meant why would someone else clear the rest. Anyway. Mystery solved. it is a scorpion built it shakope, WI. It is completely factory yet I believe it is not authorized by eliminator. Meaning builder used molds and produced boats on the side without eliminator's knowledge. But definitely clear from the factory on the deck. Going out to remove swirls now.
Thanks everyone

I was saying that the layer fades on my stream are bare gel with no clear (can see texture differences), yet there's never any color on the wheel or rag. The gel is so hard nothing touches it. Darkest shades have the most gloss.

2000 paper will scratch mine, but no grade of compound will completely polish it back out. The lighter grays have a fine texture which does not polish to pure gloss like the black and red do. It's like diamond hard, seriously.

Sound like I need to take a drive to MI. Your way on the wrong side of it for me though. I no longer use 2000 on gel. I would use that on a new paint to remove orange peel. I seldom sand over 1000 anymore although I used to all the time when I struggled to remove sanding marks. Now I have abrasives that I could stop at 600. Its possible your gel was mixed with a product like duratec clear gloss additive which makes it much harder. This product would not be sprayed into a mold however as it will cure in the presence of air leaving next layers a purely mechanical bond instead of chemical. It is meant to be used when shot from the outside as a final coat. If you boat is factory than this would likely not be the case. nevertheless I can sure you I have compounds that will swirl the hell out of it and others to remove them. I would do it for free if I was closer for all the knowledge I've learned on this site over the years

Obviously advantage would be adv...
eliminator denies that hull often. Obviously there is a reason they're trying to distance themselves for some reason????Robsandfreak

Advantage Banshee
Advantage banshee has a Plexiglas windshield. Scorpion doesn't have one. This is my Banshee. 600 cu inch blown BB Chevy with custom bravo 3 out drive. Around 30 grand in engine. Also has automotive hydraulic racing clutch inside bell housing. Has clutch pedal under dash just like a car for hole shots. I have engine & outdrive out now making changes to transom to handle the power. This boat has not seen the water with this engine. Did way over 100 with stock small block Chevy. The Banshee holds the speed record with small block V8. This boat is strong because of the hull design, and handles like a sports car, and takes rough water like smooth glass. This hull design is safe way over 100 mph. I will do over 150mph with no problems once I am done with it. Might hit 200?. I have built allot of boats that were over 130mph but touchy/not safe at those speeds. The tunnel hull is safe if trimmed right at high speed, but can be flipped over backwards in a heart beat if you don't keep the nose down. In these pictures I have the exhaust out. This boat was custom made by Advantage to fit the tall outdrive, taller than the stock transom. Has real nice blue carper and interior and seats. Basically a new boat. Once I add the transom struts boat is going back together and on the water. I have to experiment with the trim at high speeds. Might have to add cavitation plates to keep nose down but maybe it will be fine? I also might switch to cleaver props like blown hydro's use. They make a set for the Bravo 3 but not cheap. Again will have to see where current props sit in water at high speed. I have done some measuring and props might be 1/2 out of water at high speed so cleaver props would work perfect and even faster. I used to build and race flat bottoms and hydro's and now in my old age wanted a boat that is at least as fast but safe and this boat fit the bill. If anyone wants more pictures let me know. As you can see it is one beautiful boat inside and out. Only thing I wish was that it had a hand laid balsa wood floor but then huge $. Stringers are large and strong. You can see stringers are full length to front of boat. Transom is good but need struts inside to make it rigid with this outdrive and HP. Don't know the HP but should be at least 1500. I have magnesium rods, and all the rest is the best you can buy. Outdrive drive shaft goes into the bell housing and into the end of crank just like a car and splined for the clutch. Has a scatter shield bell housing out of thick aluminum. Engine sits on inside out drive mount like all the rest with adjustable front engine mounts to get the drive shaft alignment perfect, and it has to be perfect. Installing water cooled zoomies. Had water cooled headers on it. The type where the water flows inside the double layer exhaust but way to loud and mega heavy so they are going up for sale. This boat needs light weight stuff. Would love to talk to someone that has built some of these and knows the boat inside and out. Anyone who has owned one with a V8 please get in touch with me. I am also going to cap the stringer sides with aluminum plate from back to middle of boat just to be safe. This engine even with aluminum heads & intake is heavy. Again would like to talk to owners of these types of boats. I noticed the rear of this boat underneath is different than the Scorpion, long story. Look forward to hearing from someone. Grant P.S. Have to make a blower belt drive shield so the girls don't get there hair in it.Last edited by Grantmx; 05-20-2016 at 11:22 AM.
