Can't connect trailer to truck..
I have a 17ft Aquasport and I replaced the 90hp Yamaha with a Yamaha Pro V 150. Not thinking about the weight I took the trailer off my truck and now I can't get the front of the trailer down. My buddy weighs close to 300 lbs and i weigh 200 lbs and it still won't come down. Any suggestions on how i can get that sucker down ?
thanks

You will have to move the boat fwd. on the trailer, or move the wheels back some to achieve better balance...Using it the way it is , is dangerous.....

Xstream is right if you can move the winch stand forward and move the boat forward 4-6 inches will be a great help. The axle is the other as long as the axle is not welded and is u-bolted move it back again inches make a difference. I have seen negative tongue weight lift the rear of the tow vehicle going down the ramp. Rick

Im thinking the rear of the boat or drive is sitting on the ground and the tongue is pointing up at the sky. If thats what happened he is lucky he didnt take the trailer tongue in the face when he unhooked it. I gotta imagine he had to pry the latch up unless Im not following this whole think.

yes the rear of the boat is on the ground and the front of the trailer is about 6 feet off the ground..I almost took it in the face..I unlatched the tongue and tapped it with a hammer and it flew back..I'm gonna have to move the wench more forward to put more weight on the front of the trailer...In the mean time i guess ima have to try and use a jack..

when I was younger, much, did the same thing. Missed my forehead by that much and put a nice scrape up the tailgate of my pickup. Thats always a tell tail sign

DO NOT even think about moving that boat with negative tongue weight. That is a catstrophe waiting to happen. Not only will it tow badly as in fishtail, whoopdedoos in the road can snatch the trailer off the ball. Can you imagine what direction it goes in with the tail dragging the road. VERY DANGEROUS.

Sounds like a very badly balanced trailer to me. If your putting 500 lbs on the tongue and its still not coming down there is a serious problem there. Theres not that much difference in the weight of those engines for it to be that big of a difference. Like they said, either move the axle back or the boat forward. Until you get the boat off the trailer to relocate it your probably gonna want to add as much weight in the bow as you can. A jack under the rear of the trailer will help bring the tongue down.

I had to haul a trailer for a buddy that had probably 100lbs negative tongue weight with nothing in it (and I didn't know until I unhooked it) needless to say I learned how to blend metallic basecoat/clear out of that fiasco. I got out of the way as it came up, I'm pretty spry for a fat kid.
