Now, having voted NO - with my current set-up; I am hoping/scheming on a 225-PM to be sent to Jay & allow him to work his MAGIC. Then for the right mid - thinking 15" (?) -- Then, on to the "Sporty" foot, haven't "decided/given-much-thought-to/researched" gear-ratio, shaft, & other mods yet. But hoping to bust the century mark in the Mod-VP by this time next year... Also contemplating the change to hydraulic steering.

Milkdud I don't know about you, but running mid 70s on the Des Moines river is about as fast as I like to go. It starts to feel real narrow at those speeds
Since 75 is all I can do. Probably 78 with the current I will have to say the bends in the river really mess me up. I nearly ended up in that rock filled bank by Birdland Park one day. Corners I have to take slow. One log would be a bad day

Wow. When you figure in the lie factor and those who have their GPS set to knots or kilos without knowing it, the results are still pretty close.

I have lived in Miami on the intercoastal all my life. I have seen Camels busting 100 but never been there myself. Now freshwater it is rare to see a high performance O/B powered boat but I have seen a few and imagine they ran pretty close to a 100MPH. It takes an insane amount of HP to get any boat up past 100MPH. I dought even 1% of non racing boat owners can break a 100, John

Whie I think our numbers are skewed to the over 100 side, I doubt many are lying--after you spend some time on this site, you will learn that there are a number of stock boats capable of it w/o huge mods to the motor, if they are set up right and driven right.

the poll seems pretty close to 50/50...im sure the numbers would change drastically outside this forum but its pretty cool that a big percentage of the 100+ mph outboards are here on S&F...im in the under 100 mph club myself...low 80's is all she's got in her with the current power...i would love to get above to 100 mph mark one day

50/50 seems overly optimistic. I recall doing 200mph GPS & then I remebered It was on the French TGV train..
Or those pitot speedometer tubes aren't as precise as they claim to be.

Well in all honesty it is not so much the speed, nor boat, and HP. The driver who has the balls and knows how to operate a boats at speeds 100+. I had my boat get loose at 45 and damn near lost it so at a 100 forget about it. So to all those push-in 75-80 in their $70,000.00 Bass Boats try and jump behind the wheel doing a 100. Just comes down to experience, John
