Anybody seen a Yamaha SHO on a hi-perf boat yet?

It's been out a couple years now. I'm wondering if anybody has seen or ran a Yamaha SHO 4 stroke on a go-fast boat (STV, Mirage, Quartershot, etc). I don't dare say Allison as Darris would have a long distance heart attack if we even mention putting an SHO on an Allison (but if you have, let us know...I won't tell him LOL). I saw some of them at the Chicago boat show and even though they look HUGE, it's amazing that they have the weight where they have it and is some awesome innovation.

Thanks....I actually did see that and although that definitely counts, I was looking for something even MORE racier. I know there are some 250HO E-Tecs (stock) on some STVs in Australia, etc. I'm interested in seeing if anybody has even tried it. You know me...always wondering what the future holds for this stuff. There are several guys with them on their bass boats and they love 'em.

Yamaha definitely has the 4 stroke thing figured out compared to everyone else. The only thing I don't like is the fact that they don't have steel sleeves anymore in certain motors. They are doing what they can to make em lose weight but this sounds like it makes the block a throw away item instead of having the option of boring it if it scuffs too bad. Just wonder how many hours that the new cylinder walls can hold up to. On another note the V-6's do have a good sound at WOT if they're not buried in the water.

Tahts fast for a starflight,Yamaha always had it going on in 4 strokes, its even lighter then the 2 strokes, heck big John just yanked a E-TEC 250 off to go back to a 2.5,,it only did 90mph with whatever prop and went 92 with a 225 looper stock...

We have an etec on beefs vector just messing around it pulled the 34 to limiter and handled well considering the weight that the boat is not set up for. I bet a 250SHO would do better than most think with some gear and set up its the only way to get around the limiter. If your not smart enough to figure that out

The SHO is a nice engine...pulls pretty hard and has a good top end...no doubt the cranktrain/valvetrain would survive some higher RPM levels, that's just how Yamaha rolls. Their 4-stroke snowmobiles are tough to beat for overall performance and reliability. But I'm an old two-stroke guy...can't get away from it. Right now, IMO, Evinrude has it goin on the best out of the big 3. They're the only ones playin' with clean two-stroke tech, and not just in the V6 range...you want a cool midrange outboard? BRP is the only place to get one. Merc's 300/250/225 XS engines are good too, just so damn ugly.
