    MP3 outlet only?

Have any of you guys seen a simple, cheap 12v set up to plug in an Ipod or similar?
I would like to have a set up on our old pontoon boat where I could pop in a couple of marine speakers and just plug in an Ipod, I dont want to put in a whole head unit. because it will be constantly out in the weather so it wouln't last very long . just a jack with a 12v system that could maybe charge it as well.
Ive looked all over the place and cant find anything.

Just got this and haven't had a chance to try it out but you can read reviews on Amazon. I also have a pair of marine speakers to go with it for $65.00 + shipping. If'n your interested, going with the Lowrance SonicHub instead. Alternatively you could just buy the one below from Amazon and get yer own speakers.

I built a center console and attached 2 marine 3-way speakers and a tri-path mini amp to run my ipod. Works great.

That is all I use any more. No head unit. I run a iPod adapter, it works with my iPod or iPhone and charges them while plugged in.

I picked the adapter up from a local stereo shop for about $40.

All you need is a headphone jack with a splitter into a pair of RCA's. Don't need anything fancy. Can get it from Radio Shack for $10-$15.

Headphone goes into the Ipod, and the RCA's into the amp.

Keep us posted CKMATE, I've been following this. Are you guys running power straight off the batter or out of the fuse/switch box? Does it need remote like on a car stereo or is it an on/off switch? If would be kind of cool but I'm not to interested in adding a ton of extra wires.

I used a bus block and attached it under my center console. Ran a possitive and negative wires from the battery to the bus block, then i attached my amp wires and my gps wires to the bus. Got the bus at west marine part#2722 made of stainless.

I needed to fill the holes in the console of a little flats boat that I bought, after checking out this thread I ordered the Pyle kit that comes with two speakers. It showed up last night and while I haven't installed it or listened to it yet it seems like a nice, complete and cheap solution. Some things that stood out to me as I opened the package: 1) The amp is tiny, barely bigger than a pack of cigarettes. It's well sealed and even has a rubber plug that fits over the gain control and impedance switches. 2) The speakers may prove to be the most "water-proof" I've used, even the frame and basket are plastic and they come with all stainless hardware. 3) I didn't notice these features in the ad- it comes with a waterproof bag for your mp3 player which has a cable that pierces the bag. An 1/8th inch port is included that you can flush mount to make hooking up your mp3 player a breeze. I plan to install it this weekend... I'll post about the sound quality afterwards. Thanks for the heads up, I didn't know anyone made such a gizmo. so far I'm shickled titless.Click image for larger version.

Very simple and easy. And the best part is no drilling or cutting holes to mount speakers or head unit. I can remove my entire center console and use it anywhere.
