I am not 100% sure how many and that is why I started with the CCC.

I know OMC won Paris 1973 with the first cross flow V6 2 liter and Scotti won Bristol 1974 with a OMC V6.
Cees van der Velden won the "2 liter World" in Cardiff 1975 with the first looper V6
on a nice shorter mid section..

My first Paris 6 Hours 1973 was a disaster..

    http://svera.se/blogg/paris-6-hours/...as-a-disaster/
We had plenty of fun racing the early 2.0 OMC V6 crossflow engines by early 76 they had them running OK like any raced engine they often failed but not in a big way they would always rebuild them.I can tell you they varied in performance somewhat I learned this from 1st hand experience at a International 2 day boat racing event in the UK we had 4 OMC outfits entered in this race my boat had the slowest engine 105 mph`after the first heat one team entry didn`t finish the boat had been damaged. So for race 2 they swopped flywheel and carbs to my engine and my outfit gained around 2 mph in race 2`another outfit failed to finish so for race 3 they stripped that engine and used the reeds and maybe one or two other things on my engine and we gained around another 2 mph .In race 3 another team mates engine failed this was a Cougar sprint outfit belonging to Peter Thorneywork and Peter always had the best racing engines that OMC had to offer so for race 4 we borrowed his 1 to 1 gearcase and prop and put it on my engine now that did make a massive difference.I would say in the first race we had maybe 2 mph over the standard Mercury carb engines that were racing by race 4 we were as fast as the fastest Injected Mercurys that ran around 115 mph.

To my knowledge there was never a production 2l cross flow V-6 in that period of time. They were all special built race engine to compete in the 2l class. The production cross was 150ci (2.5l)

Sure, I just wondered if they sleeved it down and or short stroke or custom block?

    The 3.0 F1 v8 was just a 3.5 with thicker sleeves

Hey Lasse when you raced Paris in 1978 with Angelo Vassena was your Evinrude a 160cu or a 149cu engine .I wasn`t at Brugge testing before the 1978 Paris race but was told all the OMC / US entries for Paris in 1978 were all 2.7 loopers this may have been incorrect they could have been all 160cu crossflows .I do know that Woods and McConnell each used 2.3 loopers for the Amsterdam 3 hr race in 1976 and Peter Thorneywork used one of these engines to race at Fairford in the UK which was his own club circuit` he always held the fairford lap record until Veldon took it off him using a 2.4inj Mercury engine but he regained the lap record back with the OMC 2.3 Looper engine.

Hi John in Europe in 1976 all my teammates had the 2.0 Litre crossflows engines like I have stated before a total of 5 only and when Barry Woods came over to race in Europe we did ask him how he liked these 2.0 litre engines. He went on to say he was still racing V4 engines in the US they only brought the special engines out for racing mainly in Europe.
