    Mercury 2.5 260 POWERHEAD ONLY!

This is not a complete motor. It is a compltete ready to run drop on powerhead. As is stated in the body of this post. Motor is a Mercury 2.5 260. I bought it with a fresh rebuild from Bill Henderson (mirage243) here on the board a few years ago. It has 7/14/92 stamped on the block. It has a A-48 digital box. Block had new nic install by Ruck before it was rebuilt. So, no sleeves its all nic. The only welds I have seen on it are around the exhaust on the bottom of the motor. As far as I know it has never been weld repaired. It has Mercury top pinned pistons in it. They are single ring. It has 147 psi on ever cylinder +/- 2 on every cylinder. I done a leak down this spring and it was 2% on every cylinder. Can here run and we can do a leak down in person. It is a little dirty on the outside. Its mildew from setting in the garage. I havent had much time to run it this year or last year for that matter just sits in the garage. It has around 20 hours on it. It has been in saltwater a few times but, flushed. I dont think you can live where I do and not run into some. It is a complete drop on ready to go. The reason I am selling it is because I put a new piston in my 200 and I need to build a Shop to store my boat and all my other toys and I want to park my new truck in the garage. I would like to get 5000.00 for it plus the ride. But, I am willing to consider any reasonable offer, So, dont be scared to make one. Thanks for looking.

I have been over 90 but, I dont run light. Its a floating tackle box. I have three batteries, cooler full of ice and drinks, spare prop, tools and like I said all my tackle. I dont have a tackle box. Its all in the back compartment and the front tackle trays are full to. I fish out of it more that pleasure ride. But, the last few years there hasnt been much of either. Most of the time I spend 10 minutes getting to where I am going the fish a few hours the 10 minutes back to the ramp.

Those welds are a good thing. That is a thin area in the block from the factory. A lot of guys will weld that area before it becomes a problem!!!!!!
    Good look with the sale!

Thanks Tom. Would love to keep it but, got other needs that need to be tended to. There is a very large differenc in performance between the 200 and 260. I will miss that set ya back into the seat accelleration when you kick it. It performs very good with the 200 but, no comparison to the 260.

I have had several people inquire and offer 3800. I will take 3800 without the A-48 ECU.

The fella that I bought the 260 from. Bill Henderson (mirage243) said he would answer any questions anyone had about the powerhead. He is the one who built it. Please only serious buyers contact Bill. Thanks.

I can vouch for this motor, I built it. It has all the right stuff in it. Good Luck with the sale. Bill

I was young and bashful back then.
