Think it was $25 bucks a head plus a few other perks. Believe 3 guys were hired. Bet it was easy money in the beginning as those nasty friggin lizards were everywhere. Ya I wanted the job too. Got the perfect rifle, my 17HMR can neuter a gnat.
Tell ya a funny story. During the height of the eradication one ran across the road and I schmushed him. Only one I ever hit. Didn't mean to ... Made a quick delivery around the corner. Turned to head back & somebody'd already scooped up the carcass?!'71 Glastron V153 - Composite rebuild - Unceremoniously wrecked

The powers that be have spoken. Manatee are more important than humans.
In their defense the power companies and FWC have been browbeaten & sued into submission by EcoCelebs. At this point they're just following orders ...
Read the marine mammal protection act and see if you can spot the blatant violations the save the Manatee club is guilty of?Last edited by 71V153; 11-16-2011 at 07:41 PM.

Harassment:
Any act that disturbs or is likely to disturb a marine mammal in the wild by causing disruption of natural behavioral patterns, including, but not limited to, migration, surfacing, nursing, breeding, feeding, or sheltering, to a point where such behaviors are abandoned or significantly altered.

Florida bay/Biscane bay and the everglades national park are the next target areas. I am getting e-mails about the fight that is brewing. When you see liberal lefty kayakers using an area, you can be sure that some form of power boat regulation petition is coming. And I am seeing a lot of yaks in the everglades lately. The facts pointed out in the prev. post are the very reason the manatee should be left alone....But the women that run these manatee orgs are above the law. And will not be charged with any crime. Law enforcement cheerfully enforces the laws on power boaters. Turns a blind eye to all others.

Ha! Yup got that one in my collection.
Hear ya XV. Kayaks are a bad omen. Seem to be more & more of them launching from our private ramp. Illegally btw. Why join the Civic Association and pay for a ramp key when you can sneak your kayak under the chain?
Few weeks ago I was hosing the Baja off at our little rinse down station when I heard some kayakers approaching the ramp. Hadn't locked the chain yet so went back to do so. Guy in front said "it's okay we're coming out".(Whatever that means?) Innocently inquired if anyone in the group had a ramp key and was met with angry stares. So I locked the chain and went back to rinsing the boat. Then hooked up the muffs & ran the motor 'til convinced it was thoroughly flushed.
As you might imagine there was a fair amount of grumbling amongst the freeloaders. Nothing audible naturally, mainly body language and evil eyes. Screw those aholes!'71 Glastron V153 - Composite rebuild - Unceremoniously wrecked

YEP! We here the PNW, have zero problem, but the beaches, clam digging, more etc, regulated. Have a DNR, fly over me, any low tide...low and slow, hugging shorelines. Better whip that "yellow tag", off the neck, and show it, "digging" . On the "salmon fishing?. We need "barb less" hooks..(only one hook, not a 3 prong either"), but the Indian tribes? Sweep the silly into big drag nets , and our annual "Fall, Salmon Bake here"" We get the Salmon, from them. Drop off 200 pounds fresh fish, gutted, we just "Fillet", them, to the grill. Buck a pound too.
Need I say here......."location, location, location"? I got many friends FL, old GF whats me to move to Ft Myers..."no thanks", me..I take the PNW...rural, private HOA, lake front...( ya do a "911" call here"..wait 4 hours, a cop might show up......cities and rules, simple suck........heres a pic, last "Salmon Bake.."..(party behind me.. the shelter)

Flipping through the channels this morning and guess what I landed on? Another save the damn manatee children's show. SOS, they had picked up injured manatee from boat propellers and suffering from hypothermia. All of the rehab workers they showed were women. And not that good looking either. I guess ugly women have to have a purpose too!

Thanks Tom. Y'know imo these dang kayakers are worse than any blow boater. They looked at me with genuine confusion as I locked the chain? "Why is he being such a big meanie?" Screw em! Call me selfish but I'll be damned if I'm gonna let those aholes abuse my priviledge. That's my job!
Fyi if you get to the ramp and there's an FJ Cruiser wearing antlers & a red nose with kayak racks on top & stick family stickers on the back window? Brace yourself ...'71 Glastron V153 - Composite rebuild - Unceremoniously wrecked
