2 men killed in powerboat crash
Two men were killed after a powerboat crash during the Super Boat International races Wednesday afternoon.
They were Big Thunder driver Jeffrey Tillman and throttleman Robert Morgan, both from Missouri, according to The Citizen and The Associated Press. Tillman was from Kaiser and Morgan was from Sunrise Beach, the AP says.
Their powerboat, in the superboat unlimited class, was in third place at Turn 1 when it caught air and flipped vertically in the Key West Harbor in front of Mallory Square.
Both men were taken to Coast Guard Sector Key West, where ambulances were waiting to take them to Lower Keys Medical Center, according to Coast Guard Capt. Pat DeQuattro.

Prayers for the families...
It looked from the video like a survivable crash--anyone have any inside info on what happened?Per Rock:
"Once I bought my first Hydrostream boating changed forever for me."
Per my hero Instigator:
"I try not to let common sense interfere w/my boat buying decisions."

Looks like they were running into a stiff wind. Very sad. Probably closed head trauma. Sudden stop from 150+ mph and the body just cant survive.

canopy
just got a from one of my good friend who's shop is next to Bob Morgans. The only thing he knows is that it landed right on the canopys and both failed, if that's the case it sounds lime neck injuries. Prayers to all the friends & family, they where both a big part of.performance boating, both around Lake of the Ozarks and the World. They will be missed, RIP

Have to agree here, as saw the vid. It landed wrong, probably top ripped off, and as water like cement at that speed, plus any boat body part slamming them, massive head/neck trauma. Sad too see this. Boats built like a brick, and ..just a thought here. Maybe need a "Head Cage", similar to T/F Dragsters.
But we will all learn something from this, new designs made boats, so it never happens again.
Damn. Hate to see/hear this though. Doing what they loved to do. Godspeed, you two...another great race, tuned into a sad day.
