225 Promax VS 225 Black Max
Looking for some advice. I have a Laveycraft 20.2 ModVP with a 97, 225 Promax, with a Sporty and a Baker Rampage tunnel with 89, 225 Black Max with Bob's lower, see pics. I really like the ride and handling of the lighter weight Baker. Besides the fuel injection are there any notable differences in the 2 motors? Both have about 150 hours on them and are mostly stock from what I can tell. I am trying to decide if I should do a motor swap. I want the Baker to be as fast as possible. I will be selling the Laveycraft.

The Promax is a 2.5 liter steel bore engine, and the BlackMax is a 2.4 liter with I believe chrome lined bores... Both are good engines that last a real loong time all things being equal... Performance wise the ProMax will certainly be a stronger engine with better fuel economy...

That blue and white boat would be really nice with a 300 pro max on it.
Nice anyway but just saying.

Which lake were those pictures taken from. Looks like either Naciamento or Lake San Antonio, Anderson, Coyote. The dock looks like San Antonio.
Best wishes, Carter Powell

I just picked her up last week in SoCal. Only have a few pics so far. Pics are from Lake Berryessa near Napa. I was told the BM is a 225 but I think it is a 200. Looking forward to getting the PM on it. That motor starts and runs great! Rope on wheel? No handle or cleats to tie to, yet.

The "ProMax" engines were offered in 150, 200, and 225 in the 2.5 displacement...

Thanks for all the input guys. I have been involved in several forums, both cars and boats and by far, S&F has the best people, hands down! So hard to find such a large group of guys who love the same thing. Cool, fast boats that don't cost a fortune. I am really grateful for being turned on to S&F.
