I don't have the injestion problem on my Cougar 22MTR w/300xs.... so maybe it's only the faster hulls. Here's a video of about a 85mph run

i'm seriously looking at the purchase of a new outboard
Other than the stroker 3.2 vs the 3.0
What is the advantage of the 300xs vs the 250xs
I read somewhere that the 250's output is in the mid 290's and the 300's is about 310
#'s however were from two different sources
Is there any consistent source for this info including torque info to help a interested consumer

    Skat ,
I agree with you and Dave , it does look like a toaster. Calling it an abortion is a little over the top, since it is in the proper location , no matter how it might look to some . Tramping on two different threads = loser .
You spoke of more info to come , here's a little info you might like. The flange of the NACA duct is designed to mount under the panel in witch it is installed , not on top like you show in the picture. Not only would that disrupt airflow across the panel , but it does not give you any way to shield the opening or control it's size. They are nothing new, I have been using them to exit air from the front section and air condition the driver box in my dragsters for two decades ...

Watching that vid is alot different then being their. On my 21MTR with 300xs the water is shot back much higher then on your 22' er ,But that could be height and prop seletion too. My boat needs alot of motor height for Max speed, and thats when the water comes up close to the engine. I can do a run at 85 with jack and engine height down, then there is no problem. Only when workin on Max speed does it come into play. Oh Yea, Really nice run, and Great looking boat! and where did ya get the windshield extensions?

I just ran out to check on prop height. When I'm running70-80mph the prop shaft is about even to bottom of boat. When wanting more I need to go up another 1-11/2. My trim is up and inch in the rear from level.

I'm even with the pad when I'm at the very top of the jack plate's range. Gonna have to change the engine bolts on the jp! Thanks for the help.

I'd like to hear more about what could be the last big two stroke built , for any application ...
300+ hp , conservative port timing , over square , torquey , air compressor , and a lil squirt of fuel just when piston speed is at it's peak ..
Who was the guy who thunk that up ..

Mike Nass. We have been working together for quite sometime now and he is swamped. His bolt on stuff works awesome and the new cowl should be better but until it runs its all talk. The 3 slot works great and when you want to silence the engine you tape off the under side venting. It gets stock quite but looses a little performance. It would be nice to leave mike alone so he can keep working...I am waiting as all of you guys and when he is done , we will test it. We have mounds of data and when we run the new cowl it will get posted immediately. We run differential pressure data acquisition for both dyno and on the water testing...The gps really tells the story.

BY the way, like the cougar showed, we really only see water ingestion at very high speeds and water pressure. We have deliberately injected water on the dyno direct into the throttle body and you would be amazed at what happens. I would only be concerned about salt water indigestion at high speeds and still it wouldn't bother me much as you slow down it rinses out the salt before rust could occur. We have injected an amazing amount of water and dont worry now. We have not seen damage or rust at all...Zero in fact
