250XS block swap
I have a 2002 250XS block to replace my 1997 225 3.0 that i have been running for 4 years with no trouble. This has to be the toughest motor i`ve ever owned. 120lbs a squeeze and a mad EFI three horn makes some nice power. Anyhow i finnaly broke the motor (#6 piston skirt broke off) and have had this 2002 250XS block sitting here for a few years so i decided to build it with all my parts from the 225. The 250XS has some real nice port timming so i`m expecting it to perform better than my 225. The problem is that it runs hot. The piston tops look great but pulled some aluminum off the sides of #5. All of this same equipment ran fine on the 1997 225 block. There is a differance in how the water flows around the cylinders from block to block. I`m wondering if the 225 heads will work on the 250XS block? Has anybody ever made this block swap?
Thanks

I tried twice. No reply. I think i figured it out tho. Water was passing through the block to fast so i restricted it. I`ll find out tomorrow if that worked. If not and it pulls aluminum off the sides of #5 again i`ll simply go back to my 225 block and put this 250XS thing away till i have more info on it. It`s amazing how things are so differant from one block to another.
thanks
