My new project cat
I know its not a S&F boat, but some of you may appreciate it. Wife and I have a dream of going cruising..... We plan on doing the great loop, along with lots of the Caribean Islands. My plan is to spend the next 2 years building this thing. It will have twin 200 four strokes and an expected cruise of 15 - 20 knots with a range of 1,200 miles. It is all bagged vynylester with Nida core down to the water line. It is pretty light for its size. 44ft long X 19ft wide. It is just a hull and deck.... It will need EVERYTHING including all bulkheads. The transom will be reconfigured.... It will be rigged out for long range fishing expeditions... I will use only the best and lightest materials.
I towed it to my shop on a trailer the other night at 3am. It was a nail biting experience to say the least. Frank Mole would be proud....... It is almost 20 ft wide!!!!!!!! Some think I am crazy for putting outboards on it..... but modern 4 stroke outboards are finally ready for the task. In ten years I will switch them out for a pair of Don Garner's desiel outboards. The idea is to keep things very simple and economical...... Here it is, let the bashing begin.

That didn't take long. Lets fab a bracket and take it to the Sanford run.
I can see you towing that down I-4.
Seriously Cool, that is forward thinking in my eye. Not going to get a more stable platform. Money!
This will be Foley's retirement plan. I can see a mile of aluminum guardrail and about 400 sq feet worth of canvas half tower/dance floor.
I know you fish a lot but are you sure you can get accustomed to 15-20 knts? I barely know you but I never seen you without your hair on fire in the W/T.

Are the engines going to be mounted in the tunnel or on the stair area? that thing will be great when you;re done with it.

I'm jealous!
And Frank--"permit city?"-- I bet it was get it home quick, no permits.Per Rock:
"Once I bought my first Hydrostream boating changed forever for me."
Per my hero Instigator:
"I try not to let common sense interfere w/my boat buying decisions."

Very cool project. Just a thought....Your prob ahead of me on this.... Build in a well concealed gun and ammo locker. And stock it well. If you venture out of the US waters they may come in handy.....

espically because you can't pull oversized at nite
thats the future, as fuel becomes more expensive or non existant, as they have said for ever, "wind is free". wind speed and a 1/3 is what I'm told. who needs to go outside the US, you have plenty on that coast and also the keys keep us posted fun out
(sorry, I just looked at the pics, then went back and read, hmm, 200's,,, overkill perhaps, I bet you get more than 15-20, more like 30-35, better do some serious beefing where ever those monsters will be mounted,(in the middle) but hey, why knot?)Last edited by mr fun; 08-13-2011 at 07:25 AM.
most overnite successes usually take at least 10 years
