Merc 2.5 ...6 two barrel carbs....what motor is this?

Question: I saw this engine for sale locally. It has the old Formula style drop down cowl, yellow/orange decals, 4 tie straps...racing flywheel, 2 banks of three two barrel carbs offset on a V-manifold. Tower is 15", sportmaster style foot...guessing late 80's early 90's. The carbs are stumping me....What engine is this? I will go back and get some photos later...thanks, george

Could be any model of 60 degree V-6 Mercury. Several after market companies made the 6 X 2 intakes, Land & Sea, Alex alladin, Dick O'Day and others. Bitch to tune but bad to the bone when they're tuned right. We ran a factory 6 1 barrel set up in the late 70's to early 80's in the modified tunnel classes. It was a pain but made a lot of power. I've seen the 6X2 set ups on 2.0, 2.5 and 2.5 models.
