    300xs on a Triad V21

Anyone have any input on putting a 300xs on a triad v-21..? All the new mercury's from 225 and up are around 500 pounds so may as well have the power to accommodate the weight. How much set back would I need and how will the hull handle?

    Any input would be appreciated,

    Thanks

Ran one on my old bosses boat with 5.5 set back and it ran fine turned a 15x32 et copy to rev limiter mechanical trim gauge is a must bow does get pretty flighty he had me shorten it to 15in and did simons flywheel ecu and poppet diverter and it would run 112 and sometimes could get 113 out of it but this was hot florida keys weather and stripped out single seater no other interior but yes it will run well but it is quite a bit of power for that boat

Thanks for the info... I was thinking of propping it down and not exceeding far over 100mph. How did it handle up to 100?

it handled fine up to about 105mph area then became a bit to drive. if you have all interior you should be fine. the best thing was how good it was on fuel and oil. If you look up clewiston 200 shoot out thread there is a few pictures of it

Sounds good... Trying to decide between a 2.5 280 and the 300xs now... It's tough with the fuel economy numbers they're throwing out there and the longer life expectancy haha

went with the 280, found an 05 in canada, never run... Can't wait to get the boat rigged!

Thanks for the input on the 300xs, much appreciated!
