SOME 'Streams DON'T have cores, but most do......and most are rotten unless already re-done....

Well the seller and I agreed to $3000 for the Ventura. Doesn't seem like a bad price for the aluminum float on trlr, 200 merc, and hull. I will have to look at the soft spot until I find the time to replace the floor, but hey it can be a lil project I guess. What do u guys think?

i think your about to get to know your grinder REALLY WELL this winter
as long as the hull isn't TOO far gone, that's a pretty good price for a nice Al trailer and that motor/rigging if it's all in nice shape. and you said you had 4k to spend, so if you do the hull repair yourself you wont be too far over that 4k mark, I just did my first core/transom and it only cost me $1500-$2000 in materials and a bunch of my time

I really don't mind doing it myself, but its going to be a learning process as I've never done any fiberglass work before.

If you get it let me know, I have a shop in deerfield and my guy is always looking to do some work. Its a little closer than AFR's shop. Either way I'm sure it'll be fun.

I had a soft spot in my floor when I got mine....had a friend help me put a new floor in......(had NO CLUE what a core was)....anyway, put new carpet in and totally freshened the boat up.....only a few years later having to rip it all back out and attack the core....
I would pull the floor, do a REALLY GOOD check on the core while you have the floor out.....you can use a cut off wheel, and VERY LIGHTLY cut the top layer of skin off the inside of the boat....( a few patches ), and have a look underneith to see what the core looks like in the darkest, lowest areas.JOHN MASON

THIS JUST IN !!
As much as it pains me to do this, I don't think there is any way around it. Selling my Vector I never had a chance to get wet and I just want to beat my head into the keyboard as I'm typing this.
Bought the boat from BJ down in Arkansas who had it re-cored, transom and knee boards installed after it was painted. That being said he never got it re-re-painted so it's got some stress cracks showing by the windshield. Has a hot foot, dash full of gauges, four buckets, two 12 gal fuel cells, 6in jack plate, blah blah blah. Selling the hull only as I have to sell this to finish paying for a motor Sam is building so I can get it on my Mid/Lower and turn around to sell it. It is what it is, ask and I'll tell. If you want a certain pic I can get it. It's done nothing but sit in my garage since I got it back from Arkansas. I'd like to keep the OMC controls with the motor that I'll be selling when I get it back but I do have an extra set of Merc Controls that can go with. Asking $3000.00 but make an offer. Hopefully I can get my Mustang to sell so then I don't have to sell this, but who knows.
Thanks

Just keep in mind that it may be more than just looking at a soft floor until you have time to fix it. If the core is bad it could tear the bottom out of the hull causing the boat to crash and possibly kill somebody. It is not something that you can deal with at your leasure if the core is bad. Many Hydrostreams have delaminated with no signs of soft floor and it is not a pretty sight when they decide to come apart.
