    Boat Insurance

So, I'm shopping around again for boat insurance for my Stoker and my pontoon, and the highly recommended (by multiple people) company I call sets me up with this very nice woman who is the boat "guru".
When I tell her it has an outboard she asks "what kind?" I tell her Evinrude, she says "Evin...Uh, How do you spell that?"

    That's Just Great.

LOL. I called a LOT of places when I went to insure my 86 Scarab and 92 STV. At all but one place, either the Scarab was too old or the STV was too fast - I admitted it went over 100mph and wanted agreed value policies.

State Farm was the only agency that would write both. I've used them ever since. I later added my truck and homeowners, which saved me $1000/yr!

I have progressive for everything and on my eliminator it was real cheap, but as soon as i told them STV they cringed and told me 1500 a year for 35k replacement...and full coverage.

Calling State Farm, one thing i know for sure you could lie to them and get it for cheaper but if something should happen they have the upper hand and could deny you payout. what a F ing GAME!

SX, I didn't lie at all...told them it was a 100+mph boat. AGREED VALUE policy - so no questions on the payout. My agent is in Las Vegas, but I'm sure you could call. Make sure to tell them I referred you...I get a spiff if you sign up.

    Progressive won't touch a 21 Daytona here.

    Thanks Keith!!!

I called and although your girl could'nt help us because were not NV home owners she did transfer us to the kingman girls and they hooked me up.
Very impressive they did the policy same as yours, but with 25k replacement value, 2004 Merc 280hp, Extreme Trailer, and 100+mph all for 415 a year...then i gave them my CC and they said it would be 35 a month if i use my debit each month..what a deal
So i sent her my current policy from progressive and they are gonna see how much they can save..IM SOLD!!! Call State Farm

By the way them girls told me you would be getting something from them, I want 1/2...LOL just kidding...thanks again!

    micheal,

i have my xr02 insured through state farm. think the exact words my agent asked me was if it was their true race boat or one that looked fast. he said they couldn't insure a race boat.

Interesting, i was thinking of that same thing yesterday, i would say out of all the people ive talked to I was the most impressed with State Farm. I even called Geico, they Race 200 mph turbine powered boats...they were just as bad as Progressive. I just about gave up on it until yesterday...

    sxpilot,
Got the number for the girls in Kingman? Having problems getting a worthy agreed value on my boats with one insurance, and Im done dealing with the girl that couldn't spell Evinrude and couldn't figure out how to insure an Eliminator mod-v or Stoker, even after sending pictures of the hull.
