    115 opti problem.

I friend of mine has an 115 Optimax (2006) on his boat and a few days ago
he had a problem with the engine.
He went to a place for fishing and he idled the engine for about 1.5 hours and then when he tried to leave the engine didn't go more than 2000-2500 rpm. (no horn sounded and nothing on the smartcraft)
I thought about the spark plugs but i checked them and they seem ok.

    Any ideas?

Had same kind of problem with a 225 Opti couple of years ago. (Engine wouldnt turn more than 3500 rpms) Turned out to be the fuel hose being stuck between the cables and letting not enough fuel through. No alarm, no error. Not running idle before tho but crossing the Channel (France -> UK) with a Osprey rib. Probaly jumping the waves got the fuel hose stuck.

Same kind of problem with a 300XS this year, turned out to be pieces of coating in the tank jamming the pickup.

Just run the boat with a clean external tank to make sure its not in the fuelline. If it is a jammed pickup it might have burned the low pressure fuel pump as well...

We changed one coil a few months ago.
That time we had the bad coil blowing the circuit's fuse until it was roasted, now the coils look ok in the outside.
How can i check the coils ???

Mercury did have a bulletin on the coils. Check with your local merc dealer.
