Hey y'all I just picked up a purty clean '81 16 footer. PA boat, motor'n & trailer from original owner. Rigged with, get this, the original 650 Merc. Motor's blowed up. Imagine that. The most appropriate replacement I have in the arsenal at the moment is a '86 90hp crossflow from my wrecked Gtron. Would've liked to have a lil more hp. Anyway the 90 is punched .030, etc and very strong. Would spin a 13 3/4 x 23 SRX to 63-64k @ 54.8gps behind my 15' Glastron. Any idea what kind of performance and/or top end to expect from the Baja with that motor?

I have a 1984 16 SS with 100 Johnson. 57.6 with a 23SRX. A few mph slower but a lot more usable with a 22 Raker. I use a 17 Stiletto for skiing

Thanks David. Ironically I have a nice 13 3/4 x 23 SRX, my best go fast prop for this motor. A ventilated mildly 'finessed' 13 1/2 x 22 Lightspeed serves as my more usable one. Carry a crappy beat up alum as a last resort. Ain't got no ski prop so to speak ...
Upon further inspection the boat is in fact a 15ss & not a 16. Hope we can still be friends ...'71 Glastron V153 - Composite rebuild - Unceremoniously wrecked

Sure we can be friends, but with a foot more boat I'll have my built in excuse if you are faster.

Little Rock? I thought that Baja's of that vintage were made in Bucyrus, Ohio?

Years ago i had a 1976 16' Baja with a 1976 135 Evinrude Silver Starflight spinning a 23p SRX. It ran low 60`s according to my Kellar. Was plenty fast back then and barely sipped the gas. Those was the days.
