    Exclamation Baja 16SS 1983

    Folks,

After years and years of searching, I still haven't been able to get a capacity plate for the boat.

Does anyone own the same boat or can somehow give me the data on the capacity plate? I found some online for Baja 16 boats, but am not sure about the year and model, as the data is different even for the same year boat.

The most common data I have is maximum hp of 120, and 4 people or 510 pounds.

Any help or pointing into the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt that this is it all it says.

Any chance you can post the COMPLETE data of the capacity plate? Of course, only if it is a Baja 16SS.

    Ahoy!

Thanks. You replied to my post, so I consider it being common sense to read what I posted and respond accordingly.

I am missing my capacity plate (which was a thin foil in the old days). Any chance you could take a picture and email it, or post it here? It would help me in having another made.

The information I got from others are about the same. I was told that either 4 people or 510 lb, whatever is reached first, is limit. The average weight of a person is defined as being 150 lb for calculation purposes. 4 people would be 600 lb already.

I am curios what I can carry, as I added 2 fuel tanks. Filled their are about 80 pounds (tanks & fuel).

So again, any chance you could either take a good and straight picture of the plate, or send me all the information on it? Like I mentioned, I need one made. It would really help me a ton.

If interested, I might be able to get you the technical spec sheet and original brochure if I get it as I was told from Fountain and SeaRay.

    Thank you.

    Ahoy!

My 84 plate says 4 persons or 510 lb, 120 HP max, 1040 lb persons, motor, and gear. Send me your e-mail in a pm and I will send you a picture of the plate on Monday. I will also send a copy of the brochure information that I downloaded from the pre-Fountain Baja site.

You got PM. Thanks, that would be great. I just got a 1980 and 1984 brochure. In 1984, the boat was called the Sport 160.

    Thanks for your help.

    Excellent, thank you so much.

You would not happen to know the dimensions by any chance?

2 weeks ago we were launching the boat, 2 sheriff's from the local department called Marine Patrol stopped and inspected boats. I had a printout of another plate and it was okay with them, but they reminded us to get one done and mounted asap.

Last weekend a sheriff's boat stopped at the sandbar and did the same, they caught one guy who's motor had more horsepower than what the capacity plate stated, they escorted him back to the launch, he had to take it out immediately.

So, better be safe and sorry. Besides, when you get on my boat, you will be safe.

Again, any chance you can get me the dimension?

    Ahoy!

I would like a copy of those brochures if you could e-mail me.

    I'll PM you my e-mail.

Thanks HUSxxx, just emailed the brochures. 1980 (called 16SS) and 1984 (called Sport 160). Look identical, just a change in names.

Haven't heard regarding the originals yet.

Thank you, that helps. Now I can get the order out.

Yes, looking at these old brochures is like going back in time. Did you see the optional 8-Track tape for the dash? Cool.

How about that baja jacket and high top ball cap. Makes laugh that I used to wear stuff like that.
