26 Chopper on a XR2 150 18 TALON 7000 +++++rpms

I have a very healthy 150 and am running 74 mph at about 6800 rpm's and there is still more to go.. Should I considered a 28 and sacrifice the bottom? If I raise the motor or drop it will that help????? Thanks in advance

i guess that would depend on if bottom end is important to you or not...if all you care about is top end then id say its at least worth trying

Better add pitch quickly if the oil injection is still there. I have read here a lot that much past 6400 if that is pushing your luck.

Try a 30 ET going to loose low end but ET's seem to accelerate better than Choppers, on my boat any way.

I just bought the same combo boat and motor, but mine is set up for skiing.

NO jackplate, single cable steering, no foot throttle or wheel trim.

How do you have yours setup?

I'd appreciate any advice.

It has a power lift,26 chopper,I was told by the original owner he had speeds of mid 80's .I am new to this so I really cant help you out much.

5.5 ,3.5 above transom I got 78 6600 by my self

You say 3.5 above transom ,do you mean above the pad instead.3.5 above the pad seems high to me.hang more prop and see if it will pull it.
