Verado 350 sci - regular fuels with ethanol vs premium fuel without

    Hi,

I hope you all are well.

I will get my new Verado 350 sci very soon. I hope! Since the engine is delivered to Europe, its flashed to use regular fuel (95RON). Not as in US where you have to use premium (98RON).

From this year the oil companies will add 5-10% ethanol to the regular (95RON) fuel, but no ethanol to the premium fuel (98RON).

Since the engine is recalibrated to use regular fuel in Norway the question will then be; will it still be better to use premium fuel since there will be no ethanol in it? Any downsides? Bad fuel burn?

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Use 98 RON which is ethanol free.

I don't run 95 RON in anything, even the lawn mower gets 98 RON or V-Power 99 to avoid ethanol.

    Hi!

    Thanks Markus. Will do indeed

Just got the message that the engine is further delayed... Will be produced next week. Had to call Merc Racing to get the information. Brunswick in Belgium is not the easiest to get info from... Hope for mid summer even then..

Let's hope you get it before the season is over...

Couldn't they get you a US ECU to take full advantage of 98 RON? That should give you some additional torque...

    Hi!

I will ask them. If I am correct the flashed version in Europe give a little more boost and use more fuel on top. The hp should be the same.

I wonder if they would allow a person in the US to use the european flash so we could take advantage of 87 or 89 octane? The runs here offshore are long, 40 miles each way, sometimes longer.

Is there a corn lobby in Europe, why on earth are you guys getting ethanol in your fuel?
