I would like to answer that but must refer you to DBR. I have been helping HNR ( Mike Nass) along the way so Im somewhat of a special case. I will say this, it exceeded my expectations. Changes the look of a 300XS completely
and allows the motor to breath which equal more power plain and simple.

Again, my apologies but Im not sure if they will be made to customers specs or a production spec. Dave will be happy to answer those questions.

Yes, it vents in the corners.

Letnereat if you are in Fort Lauderdale I got two just installed on my Skater. They are really nice and fit great. They are supposed to have pricing soon. DBR is the distributor. I will also post some results soon when I get a chance to test them throughly. I will do back to back runs versus stock.

    300xs Cowl, Kits, and Plan

    Hi Guys-

The 300xs Alien cowling is out. Testing that is. We at DBR are very happy and proud to be working with Mike Nass on the cowling side of the Mercury programs. Mike is one of the best designers we have ever worked with. His glass and carbon work are impeccable. We have been testing and developing kits for a year and now the cowling has been lake tested by Adam and Ron Muller ...and a few more, thanks. We are dialing in cowls and ecu mapping with 2 goals. Reliability first then performance. Failure is not an option within our design criteria. The air-fuel ratio mixture changes with different levels of ram air to a point. Bolting on ram air to stock mapping is a slight gamble. It Is. We know. We can simulate most of this in the dyno room and are confirming this on our on test boats here in Arizona where we can boat all year. We are slowly releasing combos of kits to a few people to further confirm performance enhancements we are seeing and validate the reliability. Again ... Failure is not an option within our design criteria.

Our plan is simple. Honest. True. Here it is..

Design, test, manufacture and support the finest aftermarket outboard engine upgrade components available world wide.

    Dave Bush

We are designing and testing performance enhancing kits that include cowls, vents, pistons , reeds, porting, cnc porting, airbox, ecu mods on and on. This r&d is very expensive and more important, more time consuming than anyone can imagine. We are trying to better what mercury and other manufactures have done and that bar is so, so high. Dave( me) is trying to stay focused on one project at a time until it is done, ready to beat the crap out of. I love talking with guys on the phone however I cant be in the dyno and machine shop working for you.. I will always take calls...but in a more time efficient manner. We will establish a plan soon. Joe will be here. He is my go to guy. He knows his stuff. He is your "go to" guy too.

    Joe Abellera

Joe's credentials , work ethic and reputation are impeccable. See our site. Joe is building our engines and test boats. He is test driving the boats, helps with dyno testing, and he will be the link between you "the engine owner" and the team of DBR , HNR and all our other partners. Joe is involved in all steps of design, building and testing of our products. He is the "go to" man for you and your combination. We are building a large world client base and keep very good records on all product in the field to insure we keep things inside our design window that has no limits except failure.

    Mike Nass

Owner of HNR boats and cowlings is a great person, friend and vital component to our effort. Mikes work is perfect. Perfection takes time and we are trying to keep Mike in the glass shop and limit cowling phone time so he can build and keep tooling us all cool new parts and boats for sale. The engine cowls effect mapping so we are funneling all projects through Joe at DBR so we don't end up with engine failure out there due to mismatch in parts. Joe knows the proper and improper set ups. He is here for ....or running the tests. Mike is building the perfect parts and we are tuning to match them. Mike builds an awesome boat as well(watch out). Mike is tooling up for 300xs production now and will be building cowlings to order now. DBR and HNR form a strong team that will provide quality great performing products.

Cowling prices will be posted on DBR website within a few days. Our goal here is function and quality at fair pricing. Shipping large boxes is not cheap..We are investigating all options.

There are still inserts that need testing for all weather running. The 300xs water ingestion issue is gone with added performance as a by product. 300x was/is great. Please check our website soon for all info and pricing.

    Thanks for your time

    Dave

    nice looking cowls

double rigged, clockwork, the cowls look great, do you have the new ecu mapping to match the cowl upgrade? i am concerned that without the updated mapping you may experience a lean condition? the dbr kit needs all aspects to perform correctly. thanks for helping us get our new products tested, we appreciate your enthusiasm and loyalty for the dbr products. get in touch with me asap and we will get you taken care of.

ok great, i believe they may even be a newer one since that? so you are still needing the flywheel and the velocity stack,
we are currently developing a tuner package that is a significant gain,
that however will require a little more work to install then all the other items
have. it is unreal how much time and effort it takes to develop products of this nature.
i leave daves shop with my head spinning some days.

    Joe,
I have some mapping that was done by Simon Motorsports. The boxes have were last updated back in July which i was told was the latest but i assume that is not the case anymore. I also have lightned flywheels from Simon as well. Not the DBR ones. i can see after the mods my motors are running rich with stock cowlings. I will make a run with the new ones soon and do a comparison over the stock ones. Once complete will send the boxes to you for evaluation and what mods are necessary. You guys are great. Dave has my email or PM me with a phone number and i can bring you up to date.
    Keep up the good work!!!!!
