Mine does the same thing...these types of hulls will usually do that until you get enough speed and trim to pack air under the hull then it will usually settle down and really fly. But engine height, set-back and the style of your prop have alot to do with it. What setup are you running?

    mirage setup

im running a 2.5 efi 280 with 15" mid turning a 14.5 x32 HOSS Triton and a 14.5x32 cleaver set back 10" and prop shaft is even with the bottom of the hull. at about 105-108 mph the bow falls down like it would fall of the pad.. cant figure it out... thanks for the reply...

Your describing two different problems. As far the bouncing at 60mph, These boats need tail lift so the cleaver usually runs the best. I find they dont like alot of set-back either. Im running a 280 with 20'' mid with 6'' set-back turning 14.5x28 and 14.5x30 cleavers, prop-shaft is 1'' above the pad. Mine will start bouncing around 60mph and usually settle down in the mid 80s but it never falls off like you're describing. Take a straight edge and check the last 5 feet of the bottom of the hull, shouldnt have more than about an 1/8'' high/low...if its good I would play with your set-back and engine height. Now for falling off around 105 mph, Could be the prop blowing out because of too much pitch or the lower unit blowing out also...What lower are you running? and what kinda rpms are you turning at 105-108mph? Does it happen with both style props?

Also you might wanna repost this under the props, setup and rigging category...You will get alot more responses than under custom rigging and metal fabrication.

im turning about 8200 rpm and doing about 105 and it seems like it falls off the pad and then the bow falls, its kinda scary. but im about a half to 1 inch above the bottom of the middle sponson, i also noticed that the middle sponson is about 1 inch lower then the side sponson. its a Mod Vp bottom i have on my boat. the boat is actually faster with the Hoss Triton. it does the same thing at 112mph...

Sounds to me like either the prop or lower unit is blowing out or you have a hook in the bottom of your boat....Certain props can run higher than others before blowing out (catching air). Same thing with lower units. What lower are you running? sportmaster? CLE?

Hey man, Thanks Toyomirage. Any chance you could give me a clue on what to expect with a mirage ski racer? Im picking one up this weekend that has 2.5 225hp. Just wondering whats the trick with that hull...I am coming from a Hydrostream HST. Thanks again for the reply. My email is strongbackmfg@gmail.com
