tach question on chrysler outboard
just need to know what kind of tach i can use on a '83 100hp chrysler outboard. i heard some of them need a 20 pole. mines one that has a distributor instead of coil packs so i wasnt too sure. any help is appreciated

Crystler OB's are like Edsels. Good luck. I would get a "universal" type of tach for old motors and then just experiment with the settings until you get reasonable readings and then lock that in. Distributers are rare these days so possibly a car tach could be adapted but the question of 2 vs 4 cycle arises. Look into old snowmobiles or motorcycle tachs.
