    Oil Weeping under block (300x)

I have a 2001 300x that has not been started since I've reassembled the P/Head to the Mid. after adding a Tuner. All I've done so far is to run a compression check and prime the oil system with my DDT because of having to replace the side mount oil tank with a new one. I did suck out the residual oil from the plenum after the oil pump prime. When the motor is tilted up slightly I do get oil running out from under the block between the gasket/stainless lower pan plate. Block was torqued down per the manual and the right gaskets were used............

    What's up with that ??????????????

There is a small bleed line fitting at the bottom of the block in the front. If the hose is split or the fitting is loose it can leak the puddled fuel and oil out of the block when tilted. Just a thought, hope it helps. Kevin

Did you do a search on here? I think I remember reading something about the 3.0 blocks warping from over tightening to the mid or something like that

Thanks Ralph, no I didn't do a search, didn't even dawn on me that it might be warped. I did think about it being the crank seal though..................

Hey Gary, When you first pulled off your powerhead, did you have to jack it apart from the mid or did it just lift off with no problem? I remember my first time, from the factory, the base gasket had glue in the gasket. You had to jack apart the head from the mid and razor blade the gasket from the pan and the base of powerhead. Mercury told me that way they would be no leaks, from water and exhaust. What you have going on is no problem, just a neusense. I have no been able to fine the factory assembly gaskets from anyone, not even Mercury. Their little secret.
