I don't often agree with what AFR says on here, but he, I and Mastercraft think exactly the same way. I never expect anything beyod thanks and, if they come to my house with the trailer, help with the washdown. Now, when I was the toy puller at Lake Jackson for 5 or 6 families over Memorial Day many years in a row, on their own some of the others would haul the tanks and jugs to the station and fill them up. But typically, with this boat, I am going out either way and glad to have the company.

When e go offshore fishing its usually a group effort. Costs for a day offshore are usually around $300. I dont worry about it in the little boat because nobody will ride in it

I get just as pissed off by the guys that jump in their car and go home at the end of the day and dont hang back and help wash the boat...but they make sure they get thier share of the fish.

Few of my buddies never really had much money when growing up.Anytime we went out, however they would show up and help with everything that day even washing it up afterwords.Nowdays if going out the wife or I will fill it up.Whoever is joining us tends to bring the beer or pick up lunch if we go out to a restraunt. We do enjoy company with us and have never asked anything of anyone, thats just the way its seems to work out.

Never asked or expected gas money. Many of my friends I invite also have boats and next time I could be on thier boat.

Most of my friends offer to chip in on gas especially if they see the price at the pump for a fill-up. I usually just make em buy the beer and snacks or what not. If you invite somebody to go boating with you, expecting them to chip in is kinda rude. However, if you get invited on somebody's boat and don't offer to help with gas, drinks, whatever...well that'll probably be your last boat ride.

Im okay with it as long as they offer to help "grease the wheel" so to speak. Maybe chipping in for gas, or riding in their boat the next weekend, or them brining the drinks and some foods. It all works out in my group of friends. If not, then they arent that great of a friend in my book!

I don't ask the pretty women for gas money...but I tell them to bring what they want to drink.....(they ask if ME if they can ride)
I don't ask my male friends for gas either, but I don't make a habbit of taking males on my boat more than one time........(just to show them what its like on the river)......with only an old 2.4 for power any "un-pretty" weight can REALLY be felt at the Hot Foot....Last edited by WATERWINGS; 02-08-2011 at 12:20 PM.

I'm getting more @$%& close to that myself. The biggest "thank you" that I ever got was this past summer, when a "friend" of mine snuck weed on board my boat and was smoking it when he thought I wasn't looking (or smelling). Bad enough to take advantage of someone, but even worse to put me at risk of having MY boat impounded after I was nice enough to take him out in the boat for an afternoon.

If I invite someone to go boat riding, I expect to buy the gas. After all, I decide how far to ride and how to adjust the throttle.
