Call Noah!!! Great guy to deal with. I have always heard that adding the 200 carbs will wake them up. I have a Pro-v 150 here now I just rebuilt the carbs and they have a very small venturi.

you can use reeds and carbs fom a 200 or a 220 special. the heads on a 220 or a 225 will be better. the 220 tuner is also good. if you can get a horizontal front half, carbs and intake from a 225 with the 220 tuner and heads and use the 150 ignition with the rev limiter removed you will have a solid motor that will rev to 7000 rpm. i run that combo on my allison and it sees 7500 regularly...............benji
hold on and hope for the best

If you rev it that high, you probably need to bore it a little looser.

    Whatsamerc:
You talk about a "horizontal" front half. Which of these pictures is that? The one on the right is what I would call an Excel style, the one on the left is a standard 150. Sorry for the small size. I need to do a rebuild and can get either of these pretty easily.

i have been running it like this for several years now.

bakerfreak, the pics are too small and i cant tell. if you are wanting to build one the best advice i can give is to talk with ray. he is a wealth of knowlege and one of the few people i have met that will actually talk you out of spending money on needless parts............benji

Yeah, sorry. Ray, can you chime in? I'm curious as to what front half flows better. The Excel or Pro-V type has really defined intake runners that look like they would flow pretty well. The other type has more of a flat face where the reed block is. Does one have more reeds than the other or a tighter crankcase? My motor is the flat face 175, but I can get an Excel powerhead pretty cheap.

The Excell will basically out do the vertical motor for many reasons including the porting, carbs and horizantal front half and intake. If used on your old midsection you need to also change to the old V-6 special or Excell tuner.

    Thanks Ray,
Sounds like the Excel is the way to go. The motor I'm looking at is a 25", but I guessing that the tuner would be the same.

motor is maybe early 90's at best? So just basic hot rodding on the motor. motor runs great just needs some more hp for the old vector

Check for the model number. Should be on the clamp bracket. They made many versions over the years and different mods to produce the best results.
