    Progression 22

I am currently in the process of getting a Progression 22. I live in Bermuda and most guys I've talked to here don't have many good things to say about the boats. Most say that if I buy it, it has to be raced. They say it's not a pleasure boat and is hard to drive as well as very dangerous. I've also been told that the perfectly working Merc 280 is just a problem waiting to happen. I was planning on buying it just to have fun with it. I understand that all things have problems which cause you to spend from time to time (still looking for that car that has no problems) but the amount of negative comments I've heard have me second guessing a bit. Please give me a little insight on these boats if possible.

I'd be willing to bet a good buck that many, if not all of the negative comments that
you have heard come from people who have never owned one. I had 2 22's
Solid and well built. Any Pad Bottom Boat is going to take a little time to get used to.
Strapping a 300+ hp motor to any 22 ft boat can be dangerous without the propper
setup and Seat time.. So let me be the first to disagree with your sources. I will
say that a 21 Superboat, Challenger or Intimidator, will be a little easier to just get in and drive.
Both have their advantages and both have their drawbacks. Bottom line, its a good boat.
Strap a 250 on it and go have fun

A 22 progression does take a litte seat time but then so does any boat at over 80mph. But in comparison to superboat and intimidator it is far superior in build quality. If you want a boat that will not come apart or give you problems, go with progression, I did.

I've had my 21 superboat for over 24 years...
But with that said the 22 progression is a very well made boat that once you learn to drive it, it well go through just about anything. That's just my 2 cents

Let's see a picture of the boat and the rigging
People say I'm lazy but it takes all my time

Thanks. All the negativity had me wondering why people would purchase them in the first place if they were that bad. Do you race your boat goneby? Because a few Progressions have raced in the past most people here think that if you have one you have to race or it's a waste. How often would the 280 have to be torn aprt and rebuilt? I'll post a pic this evening when I get home. It has 3ft tabs as well as a ballast tank if that makes a difference.

I dont know to much about the 280.But it sounds like the boat u r looking at was raced. Make sure u check out real well.Might want to call Kevin at Progression he usually has info on all of his boats. No I dont race, dont have tabs or ballast. My boat runs @ 92 also have bunk cushions up front, boat is solid and runs through anything.

Ballast tank will help a bunch in the rough and allow you to
adjust setup for the calm as well. Post a picture

The Tabs can help and or also get you into trouble
Make sure you take your time

Crappy drivers always Blame the boat. What rev limiter does the
280 have? The boat needs a 3 liter, the 280 prob not the best choice
for everyday running. I would sell the 280 and put a 250XS or 300x or xs

i have driven Brabenders Progression 22 and been in and run a few others and they are great boats....built very well and can handle pretty uch everything you can throw at them....fit and finish is second to none....

as the others above have said any high HP 21-22 ft boat will definetly have a learning curve but that is true with anything over 80.....proper setup and prop selection plays a big role in how the boat will handle but seat time is huge too.....

i agree with contacting kevin....he is always a wealth of information and knows the history of almost every one of his boats....its worth a call to him just to hear what he has to say....i am sure you will learn a few things in a conversation with him....

The boat in question is the only Kevlar 22 ever built supposedly. Wish me luck. I'll post some pics soon.
