Yeah the only thing that sucks about the tank is the filler is in the back (really no where else for it) and it reads full till its almost empty because of the angle the boat sits in the water.

I run like I got a full tank untill my guage starts to bounce. Than I slow down and start conserving on the fuel till I either get home or to a pump. Of course I always carry a extra quart of oil.

That works to. But I have run out idleing up my lagoon a couple of times doing that. Sit on the nose and get the paddle out.

How would the fuel fill in the front be any safer than the stern? Just wondering what was considered a compromise in design and safety that it is no longer allowed by factory inspectors.

You know what? Never mind. We shouldnt get this thread off track from its intent. I dont think any of us with fuel fills in the stern would move them anyways.

i dont care if it get a little off topic if theres something being discussed, i was curious as to the reasoning of why this is considered unsafe also

the old tank was still good but it was pretty pitted and getting to the point that i looked as i would need a tank in the next few years and since i gutted the entire boat i am making a small floor pan that is going to be glassed over the tank and i dont want to go this far and have to start cutting things up in a few years. shadows/challengers originally have a large deck plate that allows tank access but my boat will no longer have that

yea the tanks are a little pricey but if you are looking to do it i would save up and wait the few extra weeks and do it now if you could. that tank is 50 gallons and ran me around $650 just to give you an idea
