Mercury 175 Optimax XS
What oil is used now it confusing!
Mercury site lists Optimax DFI oil for motor .
I thought Premium Plus was used in the Pro XS's
What's the right oil to use now!

mercury recently updated the recomended oil for all opti motors.. you should run your tank as low as possible or let the alarm sound then fill your resv with opti oil. it will cost a little more for the oil but if you find a dealer that carries bulk it will be a little cheaper than buying new gallons.

Ok so it was premium Plus and they did change it.I thought i was going crazy!
How much difference between the Opti Oil & Premiun Plus?
This will be brand new motor so i want the right oil from the start!

opti oil is going to be a few bucks more but who cares when your paying 11k for a motor. you will be very happy with that motor.

I've been using the Opti oil,but for the max rpm running vs low speed I think performance plus would be a better mix.less soot with the Opti oil.............???????????????

If you are going to run hard on a regular basis, you should use the premium plus. If you are going to keep it in the lower revs then the DFI oil is the way to go.

Why the Opti oil is a far better oil than the premiun plus.
