Scott,
What was the mode of failure? did the bolts break, heads pull off, did they come unwelded from a plate they were welded to?
If anyone's motor should have fallen off, it should have been mine from all of the bat-turns I have done.

Hey Scott
I just have to ask ....who rigged the boat (put the motor on) My guess is that who ever did the rigging on the boat, wheather they used 1/2" OR 9/16" BOLTS DID NOT USE A good heavy duty washer behind the bolt head that rested on the transom.....I will be shocked to hear that a good heavy duty washer on the bolt head pulled through..and would love to see pictures of it also....If no washer was used weather 1/2 or 9/16" would have pulled throught....this is just a guess and would love to know the anwser....Mike
PS ..is that your yellow ss that is for sale and i would think that the GS that the bolts pulled through was yellow also..I love yellow where is that GS that the bolts pulled through ..I would buy it in a min....

It probably had the factory washer strip welded under the bolt head...

getting back on topic fellas, I'm not really sure that ANY xtb's were built with wood in the transom. I know there were VERY few xb02's built with wood before the no rot concept and I believe the XTB was there big selling point on a boat that would last forever. I could and may be wrong, but I know of the three old xtb's I've had they all had metal transoms.

Yes Allison installed the Jackplate. The bolts pulled through the transom, they didn't break off. Scott
