    Single engine 21' Skater .. 15" 280 or 300x/ Promax

Just picked up a 21' skater and Just want some opinions on previous set up's.
I currently have a 15" 280 ROS. (not on the boat)
Or i would have to buy a 3 liter, 300x or promax.
Stickin it on the 21' Skater, Curious to know speeds/ balance/ pro's-con's between the 2 motors on this particular Hull.
This boat WILL see some chop, not just a lake boat so i dont wanna break any transoms
    Appreciate any input.
    Thanks
    Chris

You buy that beautiful red one? I love my 21!!
I thought about replacing my 260 with a 300, but wound up with a low hr 280 OS. I do love the 2.5's.
I would grab a 20" mid for your ROS.
Mine's got a con box, and runs mid 90's on gps with just me and light fuel load. 40 gallons of gas and four people, 80 flat(this really amazed me). It loves the chop, and handles great.
Been down the hudson(2 to 3 footers)and it handled it ok but wouldn't make a habit of it LOL. Gonna need to get the tanks done this winter, expensive, but I love this boat.
Anyway, I'm on a 6" bob's plate, and running a chopper II 30 worked by Rich @ Leading Edge down there in Bradenton.
Mine needs a 28 or 29 for hard running.
Gets right up, 50 to 70 porpoise but you can get rid of that easy, from 70 up it's awesome!!!
Pics of mine here if your interested http://www.pbase.com/champ3jd/skater_21&page=all
Good luck with it man, I'm sure you'll learn to love it.

And your video is awesome man!!!

pro max 300 or 300x........Dirk pitts 21 was fast as hell and ran over some pretty decent water with ease with the 15" 300x on it......i was in the boat at 107mph and if i recall correctly 112mph was its best.......

if you have a 280 though it cant hurt to bolt it on and see how you like it.....

300X 15 mid = ultimate setup...X inherently more dependable/longer lasting...No ill handling efeects with a cut mid...No slouch with a 280 either...Slap yours on, run it, enjoy it, get some seat time, advertise it in the meantime, upgrade in the off season...Best of both worlds!! Al

Yes, that speedo is gone and it does have gps now. I just don't have the knowlege working with glass to fill the hole in.
Was thinking about using it for a trim gauge cable.
I did think about a 300, but can't pry myself away from that screaming 2.5

West systems, w some silica powder, Mix to mayo consistancy
sand the area w 320, take a larger drill bit and slightly enlarge the opening of the hole,
don't drill in. Wipe w Acetone, Use a razor blade to pull a tight coat, of epoxy over holes
go back forth, up down you ll have plenty of time w epoxy. sand between coats

trick is not to build up all at once, tight wipes let dry in 2-3 passes will eliminate most of the sanding.
(Use fast hardiner) West marine sells small kits, you dont have to buy the whole setup.

    its easy. Sorry thread hijack

You can Brush the Gelcoat in a small area and cover w wax paper, let dry
Wet sand and Polish back. (dont forget hardener)

The vent goes in the Back step, helps the boat break free on the way up to plane
by relieving the vacuum pressure created by the hull and water. Will be a noticable difference
on smaller cubed motors. Faster to Plane, wont help top end.

    Last off topic post Sorry
