    jay

I have been in the boat buisness for 17yrs. About 6 mths ago I started talking to Jay about doing some hi-performance work for me. Keep in mind that I have been building motors(merc, omc, yamaha) for almost 20yrs but do not have the time or the tools it takes to do the hi-performance work that he is capable of doing. After watching a couple of his motors run I decided to use him. Since then he has built me two modified 260s that run GREAT & I tore another one down today to take to him to freshin up..Also Jay was super helpful in the tuning of these motors, keep in mind he was world champ so he is pretty sharp. Jay and Cathy are super people to deal with. I do not know what your wanting done, but if it is mercury hi-performance you are looking in the right place...If you need more info feel free to call me 409-673-5714 cell. Thanks Scott

Jay, I have been getting all my motors done by JSRE for many years now. He sponsors my Drag boat and has built me some fine motors. The last one had over 60 hard runs on it and we just got through getting it freshened up for SITC. I took it down to him one morning and it was around 8:00 AM when he started on it. It was a running motor and not in parts. He tore the motor down, cut the back half and did a little hand porting for me. Then he re-assembled it while I waited on it so we could run it on his motor stand. I left there around 6:00 PM with a fresh motor that we have installed on my boat and now have it broken in. We are going to SITC the last week end of this month. We won the event last year with a JSRE motor and plan on doing it again. That will not be an easy chore. All the best of the best will be there. You will not be going wrong with Jay doing your motor work. He and his wife Cathy are very nice people to be associated with. You can call me if you need any more info. (903-984-8346) that is my store number where I can be found.

I love my JSRE engine! I sent Jay a real piece of junk that I bought sight unseen from S&F and what Jay sent back was one bad ass motor. He called me and told me what was going on (both good and bad) every step of the way. He even called me when he was ready to test fire it and stuck his phone up to it so that I could hear it.

I'd had some VERY bad experience and luck with another supposedly "great" builder and dealing with Jay was like a night and day difference. Both he and his wife seem like really great people. Always keeps you informed, always answers your questions and actually returns your phone calls.

If you want to be "breast fed and cuddled", then Jay isn't your guy. If you want the truth and a great motor, send him your stuff. You won't be dissappointed.

    Thumbs up

Jay smith at JSRE had built many motors for me over the years... I've NEVER had a Complaint or a problem with any of them!!!!

In fact,, One 2.5 260 he built me I raced 8 races a year for over 6 seasons, and was/is one of the fastest STOCK 260's out there!!!!!! Mater of fact I still have the power head and it still runs today,,,,,,,,, But the darn Nick has worn completely off the sleeves!!!! So JSRE will rebuild it when I have the cash to get it done.

I Just broke in another of Jim Brinkleys Power-heads,, a 2.5 260 rebuild from JSRE and I'm taking to race at "Smokin in the Cove" next weekend....... It has got to be one of the easiest starting, cleanest sounding and quickest out of the hole motors I've EVER run!

I only know of a handful of engine builders in the USA that are worth a crap,,, and JSRE is second to none!

If you want a really good job on your $10,000 engine,,, then have JSRE do it! If you want to take a chance on somebody else,,,,,,,,,, Well GOD bless you.

PS your motor is only as good as the Parts you put in it,,,, And the Person who puts it together!

First Class all the way. Just always be prepared to hear the truth. He clearly tells it like it is. Some people can appraciate that style and some take offence. If you want him to build you a motor then let him do it his way. Don't try to get him to take shortcuts. It ain't gonnna happen.

And he is always there to answer any questions you may have before during and after. He doesn't wash his hands of you after the money is received.

This pretty well says it all. Of course you are going to have your Nay sayers and they are most of those that did not like it when he tells them that he will not put a motor together with JUNK. Jay will tell you right quick and will be honest with you right up front.

I am surely pleased with these Wizzard Pistons in all my motors. They are working out great. Hope to see everyone at SITC. Jay will be there if anyone wants to ask him questions about their motors. It will be kinda like a vacation for him and Cathy.

There isn't a "straighter shooter" in the outboard engine building business period!!! In addition he will spend endless hours helping guys out with questions and never get a penny for his time. Not a better guy around and thankful I can call him my friend!! Noone can go wrong using him. Not sure how he ever got hooked up with Cathy (guess another example of a boat guy overmarrying??) have fun be safe

Well if you want another Testimony of another JSRE motor here it is........

Jay Smith just built Brinkley another 260 with Wizard Pistons,,,

We Broke it in as he told us,,, then we go to t he "Smokin in the Cove" race last weekend and it took 183 EXTRA Lbs to slow us down to a 8.070 from a 7.841! We won there last season with a JSRE motor,,, and we Won there this year with another JSRE motor! This is one of the strongest Power heads I've ever driven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jay tunned it in his shop perfectly,,,,,, This motor starts like a 4-stroke Honda! It Starts every time with only 12 volts to the starter in less than one Revaluation! It turns a 24P Yamaha running level with the bottom of the pad to 9800 RPM's!

This is a another PERFECT Example of what JSRE WILL do for you!

Jay, I'm not sure if that was going to be enough!!!

Heck, it was beginning to tick me off!

She just wasn't going to slow down no matter what we did... The more we added weight and the more ya'll Dee-Tuned her,, the More she gained....

GREAT PROBLEM TO HAVE! Thanks for building Jim a WINNER!

The thing about Jay is his work is no secret and he has time for the home builder and answers questions. If I ever own anything other then junk Jay Smith will be my builder. Rick
