    powerhead for a 95 3.0 liter 225 XRI?

    will any 3 liter bolt up even though its a 95 XRI? could i bolt up a new 3 liter powerhead? i'd like to upgrade to a little more hp.

    Any 3 liter powerhead will bolt onto any 3 liter midsection. The optimax motors are a little different with water going to a compressor, but will work also....

    Yep, I have a regular '99 3 liter on a 2006 250 XS mid. Works like a charm, there are two water passages that are required to be plugged.

    I have a 2000 225 EFI on an opti mid. Just plug the unused holes. I also had to change the barb fitting for the thermostat dumps. The opti dumps use a bigger dump hose.

    You're correct, I made those changes too. I use all brass fittings though since the XS were plastic.
