Adding setback or work prop?
Do you guys think adding 2 in more to my 6 in hydraulic jackplate will make a noticeable difference in bow lift. I was running 12in before and that was doing the job but it was too much stress to my transom and im afraid that i will crack it again even though now its 1/2 in thicker and new. I have a 26p chopper and also a worked 27p trophy and both props are not lifting the boat. The motor is about an inch below the pad. i would try to post some pictures laterLast edited by bluecheckmate; 08-08-2010 at 03:28 PM.

Have you considered a Tempest Plus? I've heard it's an extreme bow-lifter, with some people complaining about too much bow lift.

Any good prop shop can make each of those props make more bow lift.

I agree with Carter, but if your boat is bow heavy you need to move the CG back.

You could try lowering the prop. Lower props have more bow lift. 1" below might be too high for your speed/boat weight. Lowering is a relatively easy and cheap change.

I cant lower my motor any more due to the fact that the transom is now a 25in b/c i had closed off the transom. Do you guys think if i had 6 more inches which will give me 12in in total do you think that the motor will be getting enough water by then?

The further you go back the higher the motor will be. JMO

I just finished talking to hydro dynamics and there going to make me some 4 in setback brackets with a 4 in drop and i can put my jackplate on it. I should be fine with that

Shouldnt hurt, I was going to say Can't hurt, but ya never know, setup is like a woman, just when you expect it to do one thing, it does the opposite.

Call me crazy, but in the picture up top, the prop centerline already looks WAY low versus the pad.
