    Bad timing advannce trigger?

84 black max 150, motor normally runs like a champ, use the boat on a daily basis, took it out last weekend and all it will do is idle around, anything over 1/4 throttle and the motor just bogs and falls on face, excellent fuel delivery, excellent spark- checked at ramp under load, even when bogging. All I can think of is the timing is not advancing. It acts just like it does if you are opening carb linkage only, and not advancing the timing, I checked all linkage it is moving the trigger all the way open.

Have you disconnected the idle stabilizer box and/or the advance module?? Magnets in the flywheel still in place or broken??Has the flywheel been apart??? Last check the bias circuit in the switch boxes.

If the trigger is moving, it's advancing. It'd be pretty hard not to. Pull all the white/black stripe wires off the switchboxes and check the bias terminals (first one on the left where the white/black wires were) for a short to ground. If its not grounded, leave the white wires off, put a timing light on it and check WOT advance. That'll answer your question about timing.
