250XS -06 missing cyl no 2... no spark after 7 sec....
Hi ! I am missing power on the cyl 2 on the 250xs, it worked last year but this season it dont work ... i felt the missing power and stopped after a high speed run and the insulator on cyl 2 is cold . Sparkplug is just oily and no sign of combustion. Strange thing I try changing coil because the was no spark after 5-7 seconds after starting up , same with the other coil , tryed an other ignition module and same problem, then swithched the ecus and same problem ...i start thinking if this is a idle software strategy to cut the cyl nr 2 ? The alarm is going off on this engine.

you need to check the coil harness for a loose or broken pin. if you have a merc pin out nox you can check voltages from the pcm. also check you voltages at the coil itself. the has to be a open wire somewere. hope this helps.

Thanks Merctech . Sometime in the past I read something about the start up procedure in optimax engines was something like using the first cyl combustion pressure to load up the air pressure in the air rail? can this have something to do with cutting the cyl ? Thanks

Found the air injector on this cylinder to be faulty , ohm changing and not present, dont open with current.
