Finally got our motor 250xs out of break-in mode.I dont have any idea where the motor height is.I havent got the gauge hooked up yet,and bascically no set up time.I have a 5950 limiter that needs to change something fierce. With 4 people, over 1/2 tank of gas as well as a big set of tools just in case.We were able to hit the limiter with a 25p trophy plus.It was running about 73gps.Theres more left with set up and leas wait for sure.I dont think high 70s is out of the question, with the newer style 6400 ecu flash. All in all this weekend for a first time run I was very impressed, this 250xs sounds complety different form the std 225 opti that was on it.

Tried Navispeed's 27 txp today.Went to the lake and was on the limiter.I thought the 04 250xs had a 5950 limiter, but it turns out its actually 5850.The 05 and up are 6300-6400 limited.Anyways I was able to hit the 5850 limiter running the 27p TXP 3 blade for a speed of 76.7.I have close to 3/4 tank in it now.Theres more left with this boat,I defintatly need to addrtess the limiter.Hmm will the 250xs get this barge to 80? lol

Got a new prop on the way(super secret prop) lol.I have to get some side scoops for the lower so I can continue to raise the motor without losing water pressure.Im not sure 80s there but I do think a couple more may be left.Im gonna be happy if its a everday 75mph boat. Most newer Velocity hulls running 80 have a 300x or 300xs so getting a 250xs there is gonna be a push.

I ran 70 mph with my 24 trophy plus at 6000 rpm (the soft limiter is set at 6100 rpm on my 250 EFI); It ran about the same with my 24 tempest plus (~71 mph at 6000 rpm). I like the trophy plus better, it's a lot more stable than the tempest plus. I need a new prop. Probably going to try a trophy 25 next if I can get my hands on one or my chopper 26. The engine is at 2.5" below pad. I can't go any higher since I don't have daul water (bullet) pickups. That should change by next weekend though.

Mikey, how deep below the pad do you run with your 28?

Hey guys, Is anyone running an Evinrude besides me? Just curious if the setups would be the same. I have my motor mounted all the way down and would like to know if raising it up a hole or two would free up any speed? If I raised it how would this affect the rpm's? I am currently using a trophy plus26 on a 2007 225h.o. at 6140 rpm's which is past my max recommended 5800 rpm's. I just bought a 27 trophy but have not tried it yet. Any help would be appreciated.

I use to run V8s on a 86 Velocity that looked just like yours. Take a picture of the water PU area on your gearcase and a picture of the case in relation to the bottom of the boat with neutral trim. Post it & I'll tell you what to do.

Thanks Jim, I will try to get the pictures and post them. I used to have a 3.6gt on this boat that I had raised up one hole and that mid section was also a 20 inch. When I had the proxb 250 on it I had it up one hole and the guy who rebuilt it blamed me for running it too high and that is why it blew up, so I had this one mounted flat on the back to avoid any problems. I do have a water pressure gauge so I believe keeping an eye on that would be sufficient. Realistically what would be a good number that I would expect to see out of this boat? I would like to see 80 but I am realistic and don't have a whole lot of extra cash for jack plates and so on. I believe it is running a solid 75+ right now but then again I don't want to wind up Mikelarge without confirmed gps numbers. I saw 82 on my water pick up speedo in ideal chop . I am also pretty certain that I have a kevlar layup. I will try and run the boat tomorrow but I am guessing the holiday weekend boat traffic will make it difficult to get a good number with the 27 trophy. Thanks again. Jim any chance my boat is your old boat?
