So you guys say trophies are a good prop for these hulls, my 85 with a 2.5 260 running a 24p chopper right now I'm running 76-77 mph GPS at 8k rpm, tried a 26p chopper and couldn't spin it over 7k and would barley reach 70mph, tried a 26p 3 blade et and hit 77 at about 7800 rpm and then the prop shaft on the sporty broke, prop shaft is about 1-1 1/2 above pad with a 6" setback jack plate, motor is as high as it will go, also usually run it with a full tank of fuel, what pitch trophy do you guys think I should try

Ditch the 24 trophy and use a 25 trophy. For whatever reason the 24 always have high slip numbers. The 25s run much better.I'm running a 26 a45 trophy myself now .Its running as fast as my 27p temp test did and is just a nicer driving prop.I may end up with a 25 trophy with a bit of tip cup myself.I've tried alot of props now and always am impressed when I try a basic trophy. Are you above the pad?I'm not sure that with only 6" back you need to be running that high. The further you go back typically the higher you can run it.

I have not tried a trophy yet, with the chopper if I have it any lower than what it is right now 1-1.5 in above the pad it chine walks bad and is a bear to handle, it runs nice with the chopper ran even better with the E.T I was trying but the prop shaft broke before I could really run it hard(now its burried in the water somewhere)

I'm running a tqmaster,I did have a chance to drive navispeeds with a sporty this weekend though.Even though I'm meeting the blowout speeds of the tqmaster It is the right lower for these boats.I have the top 6 holes plugged and will be smoothing them with epoxy and adding another 2" of setback. The reason I say the tqmaster is better is simply because these boats are not gonna run over 85 everyday.80-83 is a realistic everyday speed I think.

    Awesome pic
    What speeds is he seeing?
I've been told that the SM is a little slower than the TM.
But SM feels better at speed.
    Is this your experience?

Finally got to run mine this weekend but she did not feel right.
    Seemed very flighty and loose.
Did not try to push her.
Came in a found steering in the rear to have a lot of slop.
Tightened nuts bolts etc, seems to have removed it.

Looking forward to the weekend !!!

Best number I saw that day was 79 @ 6200 rpm with 3/4 of fuel. I would guess that very low on gas it should touch 80.

    My numbers are very similar.
My best was 79.2 and my friend has driven 80.8
These were on different days and conditions.
When I drove my best I felt that I could swing a larger prop but did not have one available.
When my friend drove her it was on the limiter also he did not have any real seat time in the boat.
So I 'm sure there is more in there.

Limitless what lower/gear ratio and prop are you running.Ive tried MANY props and always seem to come back to the Trophy as one of if not my favorite prop.Ive ran over 80 with my wife in and 3/4 tank running a trophy.Id guess your boat to be a bit lighter soimply because of newer materials there using. If you haven't tried a trophy its well worth your time.It may be short 1-2mph on the big end compared to some props, but for all around its the hands down winners so far for me.

    SM lower unit 1.75 ratio.
    I think those #'s were from a 26 ProET 4 blade.
My all round prop is a 25 BravoXS 4 blade.
I think 27 might be the magic answer to get closer to your results.
I tried a Trophy Plus but I preferred the Bravo XS it felt more stable to me.
I have a 28 Hydromotive which I got with the boat but I found too big for my typical loads.
I'm gonna try it again soon with a light load.
I was wondering if these results are confirming that the SM's are a little slower in this range when compared to the TM's.
Also any feedback on the new Pro Max?

You guys might want to try a "Turbo Fusion 4" from Precision Propeller on that hull. With a pad that wide I think it would be an excellent fit. I believe that Precision was bought out by Yamaha a couple of years ago. If someone has already tried a TF4 the results would be interesting.

    Hi Greg
When u mention the pad size...and a specific prop.
What is your experience with this in relation to the style of prop?
I have noticed that my bigger bladed Bravo seems to carry my boat better than the Pro ET maybe......?
Is this what you are referring to?

Finally was alone in my boat. Took the gps with me from my truck. With 40 gallons of gas and me weighing 235 got 77. No chop and a swirly wind. Was using a rev 4 prop 14 5/8 x 23. I have 1.62 gears. Forgot to look at the tach. One inch above the pad. 4 inches of setback. Also tried a 14 1/2 x 24 Chopper II and got 75. Real bad slip out of the hole. Want to try a trophy or Bravo. The boat runs flat and bogs out of the whole with 3/4 inch pvs wholes. Wondering about exhaust by the prop on the 300x's. Since a lot doesn't seem to go by the prop the holes don't seem to work.
