Doesnt the Torquemaster come with 1.75 gears? Maybe The Sporty has 1.62's. So much to play with. I like to let everyone experiment first then I try what seems best for them after they spent their money. Just got my daughter 800 in books for a semester. Could have got some nice prop for that, haha.

Our 300xs will be arrive next week.We have a baby due in 8 days so I wont be doing anything for a while on it.I do see mid to high 70s with our 250xs and 1.75/tqmaster with 25p though. It put up a mystical 82.6 once but i think it was a fluke. The 300xs we bought has a 1.62 tqmaster on it...I do have a few ideas and hope to be in the low 80s.I think theres more in these boats we just need to find it.Going back to 12" makes it fast but it loses a bit of its roughwater handling.

What year did you take that picture at the Seattle show blkmtrfan? I guess I am unclear on when the "new style deck" started its production run? I thought it was only a short time ago, but now it seems like the new style deck perhaps started production as far back as 2003.

Thanks guys our baby girl is due in 5 days,we are beyond excited. When I redid the interior a bit last year I made a spot for a baby seat to sit down into where I could strap it down as well.Obviously there will be no running hard with her in it for a while, but she will be boating from a early age......as far as the 300xs goes it should be here on thursday.Ill probably throw it just to see how it compares in a few weeks and see what the differnce is.It does have a 1.62 tqmaster and the only prop I have rite now is a 25p solas so im not sure ill be able to turn that even 6000 with the 1.62 gears. The 250xs pushes us to 75-76ish everyday speed.Id guess teh 300xs would be very close to 80 but im not sure yet.We will soon see.For now though my priorties are on are baby.

Greg, from what was being said, Stepp went to using the "new deck" when he re-started making Velocities in 1994-1995,
That pic is from 2004 , I found the thread:

Interesting, that 2001 thanks Carguy claim ran 92MPH in that thread is actually my boat. HMM I wonder if the cabin was completely stripped. I knew it was a LakeX boat. Cool! What is S-Glass? I guess a special kind of fiber glass. Can someone chime in on this? Thanks blkmtrfan, good info.
