I think the 21 superboats have a 7'6" beam and the 22 velocities are 7'11".

    Very, very impressive.

I am guessing that you have posted it before, but could you list your mods and setup you did to get to 85?

    Thanks

...Good info here...My Velocity 22, bought new in 1986, w/a 200 mariner would radar @ 72 on a good day...no jackplate & nose "even" w/the pad..Ran a 24 pitch Merc chopper(3-blade)...I REALLY miss that boat & am looking for another...I have a nice 3.6 V8 Rrevinrude on my 85 Rally Sport that I "think" would be great on a V22...You guys seem to like 10" of setback/jackplate...Would that be "right" w/a heavy motor like the 3.6, or, would that mean a little less setback..?..Just gathering info for near future use...Anyone interested in an 85 Rally Sport..haha...Thanx for the thread btw...

I have yet to hit the 85 number, i have a best of 80 on the nose, bouncing the rev limiter. I am hoping the slight setup change and spinning a 30p will bring me damn close to 85 which is why i posted I'm on teh quest to 85. I am going to try to hit that number with a stock 225 powerhead. Everybody said that it is impossible to run 80 with my motor, and I did that so I want to see just how much I can manage to squeeze out of this boat without adding more power!

I could go slower next year for all I know, we shall see. I better see that challenger of yours up at the romp!!!!!!! Mike you would have a blast up there, the lake is absolutely perfect for running the boats!!!!

I haven't been on Scream and Fly for quite some time and was excited to see a post on Velocity set up. These are great boats and in Oklahoma get a lot of comments. Mine is down and out right now I melted a piston on Labor Day weekend. Here's what I got.

    '89 22' Velocity
    '99 2.5L 280hp Offshore (rev limit 8200)
    prop is 22" Hydromotive O/T 4 blade
5" Hydraulic jack plate (usually run about 1" below pad)
Last GPS run was 73mph @7400rpm

I've been curious what change I could expect if I traded out to a 3.0L 225 or 300. I honestly feel the boat is too heavy for my high stung 280.
