Is this considered the "new" style deck?

I believe 94 was the year Steve Stepp took the hulls over again, prior were made by Regal.Im not sure if there really is alot of speed differences or what between the the Regal hull or the 94 and newer Stepp hulls.I know for a fact the fastest and lightest were 84-84.Although the hull may be the same everything from the rub rail up is different. These boats although not the fastest definitly are a very nice all around boat and can handle rough water.

Agree with aaronmt, 94, when Steve took the molds back and started Thoroughbred / Velecity.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.

The 80's were the fastest. No hook and lighter. The Regal's had a hook built in and were much slower. The new Stepp hull is heavier than the Regal but is faster with no hook. I've owned the Regal and now own a '97. I've ridden in Four 80's Velocities. Stuck with Velocity because there is so much room in them.

Thanks for the replys guys, from them this is what I get:
Steve Stepp started building the 22s in 1984
When he started back up with Thoroughbred in 1994 he did the 22 with the new style deck.
The Regals still used the old style deck with the 22 OB and had a different deck with the 23 I/O, correct?
When did he sell the molds to Regal?
And Greg G, I kind of laughed when I saw your "new style deck" picture as I took it at the Seattle Boat show22' Activator w/ 250xs Merc Opti, back home again

Not a whole lot of more power but it feels crispier for sure, I haven't being able to run it with a Torquemaster, so will try this season.
best I did with the 250xs with TM was 74 and the best I've seen with the 300xs with a SM was 75. I did have a 300x with SM and did 80 though. So I'm hpoping that with the TM on the 300xs it should go 78 to 80. "There are a lot of what if's" prop selection has a lot to do with that too. we'll see this season.Last edited by NAVISPEED1; 01-24-2013 at 02:16 PM.
