I currently have a 2007 300xs with a 1.87 SM(Yes 1.87,Rare) I just haven't have time to play with different props, I may try a 1.62 SM this next weekend for fun, I have a nice Tempest 25p that I belive would be the prop to run mid to high 70's consistenly. So we'll see. I think these boats run better with Torque Master, I just love the mean look of the Sport Master LOL!!. I would like to try a Bravo 1 and also a Chopper 2, we'll see.
Later!

I have to agree about the look of the sportmaster It is mean yes!!!
I've been told that they do run a little slower but supposedly are safer at the higher speeds.(blow out ,handling etc.)
So far I've been happy with it,I've got a ways to go to say I've gotten everything out of it,I'm just gonna keep on trying.
Gonna try a Mirage Plus this weekend just wanted to see what the three blade does.
Keep you posted.Last edited by limitless; 08-01-2012 at 06:26 PM.

Just finished my load prop testing on the Mirage Plus Three Blade 25 Pitch PVS not used.
Boat Fuel 3/4 Tank , 2 Adults . 75 mph @ limiter.
Impression vs Bravo 1 Four Blade 24 Pitch no PVS similar boat set up.
Same top end with both props.
Acceleration with Bravo faster.
Less trim necessary with Bravo.
Less torque steer with Bravo.
IMHO the Bravo is the better choice in this application 300xs SportMaster
Not really surprising but had the opportunity to try it so I did12 Velocity 220 - 12 Mercury 300xs

To the best of my knowledge it is.
It was a loaner.
I should be getting a Bravo XS 25 in the next week or so.
I've tried a Bravo XS 26 and I really liked it.
However with my typical load (heavy) I thought that the 25 might be slightly better.
Taking all the benefits of the 24 Bravo and combining them with the speed of the 26 XS.
This I hope will be a good all round compromise.
I'll update as soon as I have results.12 Velocity 220 - 12 Mercury 300xs

Finally got the boat wet!!!Now I can get back to dialing it in.I took it on a lake the was crowded for a quick lap.First time running this year I hit 77.2 without enough room to get height and trim dialed in.I think all said and done this 250xs will run 80.

I was running a 27 txp.I think it may be a bit to much prop for the 250 though. This winter I cleaned up the cuddy a bit.I removed the carpet that was on the walls, headliner and painted it all dark grey intsead of the floral pattern intead of the floral pattern stuff that was in there.I had thought of changing the would in the cabin out for a lighter material however it was gonna get expensive.I made a cooler in between the 2 seats which is also going to be very handy. The seats mounts also were changed, the seat boxes I had were kinda goofy compare to most.I went from 12" to 10" of set back,I think the boat gets to flighty with the 12"s.Next winter I may look into replaceing the seats and buildng them lighter. The rear seat in this is obsurdly heavy.I know Navispeed's looks a bit different then mine.We have a baby on the way so Im trying to make it a bit more user freindly.I think they used lighter materials as the years went on.Mine is a 98 and I feel its build like a tank.I was literal on the lake for 5mins there was alot of boat traffic and my wife was was waiting for me.On vaction next week Ill get a chance to mess with it,I was just trying to make sure it was running and somewhat ready.

That "txp" runs very stiff.....more like a 28-29 at the tips. The longer hub helps you 'ski' off it as I was told. Prop was designed by Mark Croxton when he worked at Turbo Propellers. You might have a hard time finding another prop to beat that txp. Another great prop might be a Yamaha T1 which is similar but should have a little more stern lift. I know many haven't heard of or want to try these less popular Props but they have good handling and are FAST. JMO.
I took off 280 K-planes because I found I never used them and lost like 130lbs of stern weight. Boat runs better and faster I think without them. I later added an Allison drag plate off the jack plate and have it about 6" above the pad. Allison recommends 3" above pad for Drag hole shot but I run rougher waters so I went higher. It is about 14" long X 17" wide. It helps hole shot and I can stay on plane now down to around 15 mph and only adds about 5 lbs. of Aluminum weight. Plate never hits any water while up running.Last edited by dnelson964; 08-28-2012 at 10:53 AM.

Any pics of your allison drag plate and how you mounted it?I had a allison before and actually use a ally foil on the velocity now.Do you think the speed difference was from the weight loss or drag of the tabs?
