Ive been looking at places for a cooler on this boat.I think im gonna build them in the back to sides of the splashwell. Our old checkmate starflite had them like tthat and I reallt liked it.Ive already made the covers tilt so ill just have to mock uo a box and fiberglass it in.Anyone else try this.

My son has a Checkmate like that and a friend of mine had one also. Everything melts real fast up there. Lasts a long time down by the water and its also a convenient place between the seats. You can grab stuff out of the cooler while your driving, I love it there. Worth the extra work, you wont regret it. I would call Velocity though and see if the tank goes farther toward front than mine before you start. There may be a reason why they stopped doing it in that spot.

New to scream and fly, but maybe I can help. I also have a 22 Velocity, year 2000. recently I pulled the tank. I can. Take some pics and get some dimensions. Before I cut the floor, I was able to run a tape measure along the top of it from the back bilge area and could feel where it ended. I'm glad I did. 109 inches long and it extended into the v-birth. My floor was flat with no recess for v-birth entry. I wanted to change that, shorten the tank (94 gallons to 54 gallons, which should be about 60 inches) and clean the tank as well. The boat may have been a mercury test boat at one time but I havn't talked to Steve about it. I also want to add a cooler. Was thinking in the back, but JamesGang makes good point . Will think some more. Glad to be here on S&F! Thanks- Eric

Welcome to S&F Eric. Didn't even think to ask how big his tank is. If its as big as yours I think a floor cooler is out.

    Evening guys.
Greetings from Antigua. I have to say...this thread has been absolutely amazing for getting info. I bought my 22 last July and LOVE it. Apparently it's a kevlar hull. I don't know much else about it. I will have to give Steve a call with the SN and find out a bit more about it. Yesterday was one of the few days that the family was NOT out with me so decided to open it out a bit and see what I could get. 62.8 with an '05 Mariner 225 EFI @ 6300 rpm. (I put the figures into the mercury prop slip calculator and it came up with 5%....is that good?). Supposed to get 6800 out of it but chickened out as the winds picked up a bit and the chop got a little bigger. I wil take some photos and upload them....will also put in al specs (as per the beginning of the thread).
A BIG THANKS to all of you for helping me decide to get my 22!
Quick question for the figures...what's the factory setback setback?
    Catch you later.
    Dominic

    Dial in blues.
After running that 80 a few weeks ago got busy with life.
Finally got a break this week end and despite the wind gods got out on the local lake.
I filled my tank i think its 65 gal got the family 4 including myself.Headed out to the water just to cruise.
Had a hard time getting on plane! Ran the plate down ran it up still not very responsive (scary for the intra costal inlets)
My prop was the same 26 pitch Pro et that I've been using.
The tank is now full to 3/4 (with my 80mph it was at about 1/2)
Load is up by two people (additional 320 lbs)
She eventually gets on plane with a bit of twisting and turning and once up seems to run ok.
Just didn't expect the dramatic difference

Am I asking too much of the 26 pitch ?
Or is it the style ProET ?

Looking for a good all round prop to start with.
This is my typical load give or take a full cooler
I had the Pro ET from a prior boat.

I know I'm gonna have to buy other props.
Trying not too make too many mistakes.
Thought that the Pro ET was gonna be my all rounder.
    Any thoughts?

Did you say your ratio was a 1.62. If so try a Hydromotive OB4 24". I have one, its a few miles an hour slower but carries the boat nice in the rough, gets on plane awesome, and should work well as your family prop.

James - how would you compare the Hydromotive OB4 24" to the Trophy 24"? My 250 EFI is locked down to the 5,700 rev limiter (which has kept the motor very dependable) and the Trophy seems to carry the load well. I use the 24 with a load and a 26 without a load. I can take them both to the 5,700 under each of those conditions. I'd be interested in trying the Hydromotive.

On my boat the 24 Trophy ran 84 and the OB4 ran 87. The handeling with the OB4 was way better.

My ratio is 1.75 and is a sportmaster gearcase
Due to the ratio should i be looking at less pitch than the 24 or more?
The OB4 that you're referring to is that full thru hub exhaust? or does the exhaust pass both over and thru? or completely over?

    Thanks Again for your input

Its a over and through. What kind of RPM are you getting out of each of these props at the loads that you mentioned?
