Nothing breaking here either, I am very doubtful mikey's speed will be attainable on my setup. The best I've seen is 74 with a 26 chopper at 5800rpm...my rig is pretty heavy. That's with two adults and ~30 gallons of gas. Prop shaft was about 1 inch below the pad. My trophy and tempest 24 runs lower speed with more slip at ~ 3inch below the pad. Engine is a 250 efi.

This is still my best with 2 people. I'm gonna try to get 90 this fall going solo when the Hudson cleans up a bit. Some one told me they saw a cow floating in the river the other day. Bacteria levels are so bad they advise don't even put your hand in the river. Irene killed the end of boating season around here.

Yea I know, you already told me, its all my fault. I just came from lunch at Gulleys, If I skipped that part of the day I would have had 90.

It is a 94 hull, the season before this I got rid of the trimtabs and the ladder.I filled over 30 holes with epoxy.
After changing the transom until this season I only got 4 holes in it and that is enough

Yeah, great question. We've been waiting for the comparison for some time now.

Makes sense. Good luck with it. It looks great now.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.

Let me try to do this with some organization to it....
    Progression-
    Pros....
    Definately alot stronger
    Full transom
Runs faster loaded down with fuel people then the velocity would
Cuts nasty water alot better ( rides like a caddy)
    Larger fuel capacity
Latham steering/ capilano helm ( absolute must have)
    Cons....
Definately harder to drive, and have to pay attention at all times
None of my props work that well..
Occasionally you do get wet depending on conditions ( never got wet in the velocity)
Bow rides very high at idle speeds, its a pain to see where your going (Solve the issue by always going fast)

    Velocity-
    Pros....
    Definately lighter
    Easier to drive
More stable when stepping into boat at the dock
Much safer feeling boat (more forgiving)
    Cons....
Tends to beat you up a little more in the real nasty water
Accelerates a little slower due to the wider pad
    No "stabbin cabin"

All in all both boats are very comparable, but I always wanted a progression

    Speeds
Progression empty 83 so far/ 2 people full tank and misc beach gear 81
Velocity empty 84 / 2 people full tank and misc beach gear 79 and change

I still have to prop out the progression so I do feel it will be the all out faster boat once all is said and done

Great input Mikey, thanks for giving us your opinion.

    /Patrik

BTW Try to get a Bravo XS (Merc Racing Outboard edition) FANTASTIC prop or a Marc Croxton Copy of Bravo XS.
