evinrude crossflow painted black... sinner?
So I painted my 1979 evinrude 150 crossflow black to match my boat. Am I a sinner? lol. It was the blue/gray colors before and it was touched up with a spray can in a horrible way. I painted it black metallic. It looks damn good on there if you ask me. What do you guys think?

I think it looks great. Remember that some OMCs came dark charcoal and black from the factory, so it's totally fine: ).
Great looking boat!

Thanks guys! I've heard it both ways and didn't really care to be honest. I actually thought I might catch some beef on here for painting the evinride the oh so holy black color. I couldn't float with a blue motor on an orange boat... not cool.

It`s your motor to paint any color you want. I like it. In Cali they custom paint their cowls to match the boat. I know a guy that painted his Yamaha red. Another guy painted his Merc 200 all white with orange pin`s to go on his orange Vector. Looked good too.

beautiful boat, and you probably picked up 3-4 mph painting it black. Seriously, that is a great looking rig and the motor looks really good.

WOW, that looks killer, whats the History on your Boat? Ive never seen a Forester like that? Is it a Pad V hull or just a V? Im interested its pretty cool. It looks like a House of Kolor Orange pearl, how does the paint hold up for marine use, it looks amazing in the pics.....How fast does that bad boy go, like 60 or so? Sorry for the random questions, I have a 1982 Checkmate Enticer, its open bow,yet small like yours and Im putting a 1996 Evinrude 175 Intruder on her, its powered by the original 140 V4 Xflow, which is in fine shape, but it needs that V6 for heavy loads and for playing with jet skis.....Brannon

To be honest the boat doesn't "bling" like it does in that photo. My camera phone can't decide what color it is when I take pics of it. Sometimes it shows up red and sometimes orange. This time it showed up Pearl orange. Its really the original orange gelcoat. If I were to re-do the color though, it would be a pearl orange.
The boat is just a regular round bottom V with no pad. I won't know the top speed untill tomorrow. I am going to put it on the lake for the first time with the crossflow. It used to have a 3 cyl 75hp mariner. Im sure the new motor will be plenty fast for the hull. I'm running a ss 23p prop by the way.1975 Hydrostream Ventura II

I told you that you'd be done before I would be. Can't wait to get it on the water tomorrow. The GPS is on the charger now!
