Johnson 200 GT VRO disconnect help
Anyone out there disconnected the VRO pump on this engine. I want to do the same. The engine is nearly 20 years old and I don't want to depend on the vro. I had a 2.5 280 that I mixed so I don't mind the effort. I have seen a lot of smoke issues at start and idle and there appears to be lots of oil drips forming at the carbs and on hoses. Plan to replace and clamp all hoses as well. This engine is running very rich at idle. Get rid of the VRO and that is solved.
Seems like two 3/8" main lines come off and a barrel harness with about 4 wires off the back of the VRO. Of the 2 lines, one goes to the carbs and the other to the intake maniford. What do I do with the one to the intake?
I have kinda made my mind up to do this and any advice would be appreciated.

What makes the best sense? I only assume you have to remove the pump.
I mainly want to replace the vro and prefer to mix. I think the overly rich condition I see at idle is due to hoses being old and possibly letting air in. However, I don't want to trust a part that may be 20 years old that is that vital.

I will try that. I assume the fuel pump remains correct?
Thanks.

I disconnected the vro system on my gt150. I went with an electric fp, I wish I had rebuilt the vro. It really is a great system I didn't find that out until afterwards.

Vro
Does that mean that you had issues or just the convenience factor?
