Evinrude DI?
so, im in the market for power to push my vegas XT. found a 225 evinrude di (i think its a 2005). the season is here, i have no motor yet, and this seems like a pretty good deal. i know they had problems with the early e-tecs, but these are a different animal. u guys know anyone who is running these? any aftermarket parts out there? should i be afraid? i just dont want to buy this this thing and be grossly dissapointed. im sure you merc guys will have fun with this.

I had an 05 Hydra Sports VX 2500 with twin 225 E-Techs. Sold the boat last spring, had 300 hrs on them. They were awesome motors. Mainly used it for fishing out of Pt Orange FL. Would run 40-50 miles ofshore all the time. Great on gas too! Good in my experience. Good luck!

kevin- do you if sam has done anything with one of these? mostly concerned with the availability of aftermarket parts and the potential to get a little more out of it without tearing it down and getting inside it. im sure i will eventually have that opportunity after i blow it up but hopefully i get a season or two out of it before that happens

In 05 the had both a Ficht and an e-tec which are you looking at? Both are good engines, hot rod parts are not available.

the guy who has it told me it was an etec, but upon receiving a picture message of it, its obviously a di. he said it was an 05, but since he didnt even know it was an etec, who knows what year it might be.

If you can get a serial number I can see if it has had any warranty issues. I would have it checked including a emm download.
