30 hp e-tec, 2010
Looking for opinions, good or bad on the 2010 30 HP e-tec motors.
How long have they been making this 30 HP?
Thanks.

Not sure if I should wait for another new production (need something soon). How long until it may be out and what type of pricing should one expect?
I know the 25 / 30's are new as of last year. E-tec motors have been around for a while but are there any problems or differences with the computer package that sits on top of the motor that you know of? I would expect a similar design from the larger motors that have been around for a while when they built these smaller ones.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks.

lmao get the etec, little heavy for a 30 IMO but if your boat can handle it and dfi 2 stroke is what you want, it's pretty much your only choice.

NNT, If YOU look at all 25/30 Options what would you take? A Tohatsu/Nissan (very good choice in my book), a Yamaha F25, a Zuki Df25 (V twin????) or a Honda 25? Im interested in your answer buddy.....Mr. Alaska, Ive sold numerous of the 25/30 Etecs, if you want to pay the extra cabbage for the 5hp then get it, its the best 25/30 out there, has the most thought of features, and is now AMERICAN MADE!!!! The early ones were only assmebled here, anyways the Torque is fantastic, Decibles are the same as a Merc'Ohatsu, and the runnability is Killer. Brannon

Thanks for the information. I tend to over-analyze things such as these motors looking at the differences etc. I have a little concern for new production motors (last year was the first year made) and meanwhile, we had more snow last night so I won't be fishing too soon. If you have any global warming down there, send it this way.

John, seriously Buddy, I wouldnt tell you on a Public forum or on the phone how great someting was if it wasnt. Ive literally sold all but 1 of the 30 25/30 Etecs that we had 10 months ago, thats incredible in this economy plus ive sold 28 of them myself, dude Ive really worked them over. Its truly a Class Leading Engine, and Merc, Yammie, Suzuki and Honda will lose sales to people that actually shop for different brands. I was serious when I told you to do a 25, but for the Price that you recived then the 30 was a no brainer, was that guy legitimate in his price? It seemed way to good to be true, I know because I gave BRP the least expensive 25 pricing in the country, the Tohatsu pricing, and they beat it.... so make sure the price is rigged, propped, system check gauge, and you get the 5 yr warranty, DO NOT WAIT until after APril 15th, that would be silly to lose 2yrs of warranty. If you have further questions let me know, and Have fun this summer. Brannon

Go ETEC on the 30HP
I am a Merc guy. love my merc racing engines, use to love my small 2 stroke mercs, do not like the 4 strokes. However, I was buying a new river boat and needed a small Hp engine. I went with the 25HP ETEC to try something new and man am I impressed. the kool thing to me was no breakin and no maintenence for 3 years , plus got 5 years warranty. I ran her like a scolded dawg from day one. The starts are instant. The only wierd thing that took getting use to is on my small hp mercs yor tiller twist grip controls rev/for and then speed. The Etec you actually got a for/rev throttle built into tiller arm and then the twist grip controls speed. Now if you buying it as a kicker it has a kool little adj idle speed buton. I just bought it for the small rivers.
